Yeah, seems like a very tiny chance of that happening.

Even bad teams don't trade good LT's lol. Many of them are trying to find a QB and one major issue would be throwing a young talented guy out there only to get devoured.

Also, check out how the safeties react to him. He draws a lot of attention for a washed up WR that can't run. And because the defenses overreact to him, there's often wide open spaces for other receivers with no safety help over the top on the other side. Gee, I wonder if Andy can find a way to exploit those situations? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Finally, check out that when DHop does run a go route or some other deep/vert route, that even though the DB is often right there on his hip/half a stride back, DHop many times has leverage either inside or outside; he's open if the pass has air under it to the correct side. He will make those catches.
Yeah, I am liking that! He is damn near perfect for this offense. Just what we need.

In his first game, I'd figure roughly what we saw from KT in his first game, right? Hopkins will absorb more of the gameplan and understand a lot more about situational football than KT ever did, so maybe bump his snaps and his targets a few percent. Call it roughly 20-odd snaps and maybe 5-7 targets? At least two or so targets in the opening 15-play script to get him in the flow a little bit? But, like KT, he's not going to be in on a lot of the situational stuff at first; just too much to absorb in a few days. But as the season wears on, he's going to probably become a primary receiver in all of those situational packages, right?

As for the season, I mean, that's the real question. I don't know if I can quantify that until after I see him play this weekend. Actually, probably going to take two or three games; see how he trends.

And Pat is going to have to make a big adjustment in how he makes decisions about whether to pull the trigger or not. Pat has always had the luxury of playing in Andy's offense, which has given him the largest separations by his receivers in the NFL.

But Hopkins, even when there's a DB right there, is still 'open,' because of his catch radius, his precision and his physicality at the catchpoint.

So how long will it take for Pat to get used to throwing the ball at DHop even when he appears covered?

I remember a long time ago I watched an interview with Kurt Warner and he talked about making that same adjustment when he went to ARI. He said that he'd gotten used to seeing Isaac Bruce and Tory Holt wide open by several yards when they were seeing man coverage. But when he became a Card, his WRs were Fitzy and Boldin, neither of whom ever created that kind of separation. So, initially Warner didn't see them as 'open,' didn't throw the ball on time, and took a lot of sacks.

He said it was a big adjustment for him to learn to trust his receivers and throw on time, knowing and trusting that they were going to make those plays even with defenders draped over them.

I think that's going to be a bigger adjustment for Pat, than any adjustments that DHop will have to make getting used to Mahomes. I don't doubt Pat will figure it out, but it's just how many games will it take for him to get comfortable doing something he really hasn't had to do in his pro career.

Once he does, well, I think it will be a match made in football heaven.

Part of me still can't believe we're actually talking about how Hopkins is going to fit into the Chiefs offense with Mahomes, lol. This is great.

I don't.

Mahomes already knows how to "use the operating system" with a guy like Hopkins.

This is just upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

You could be right. Tbh, I hope you are. Just saying, Pat has been reluctant to throw balls into tight windows over the middle for awhile now. Given who he's been throwing to the last few years, I don't blame him. We'll see how it goes.

That’s because he doesn’t trust any of these guys.

Those tipped pick sixes has him holding the ball longer and overthinking.

He quickly developed chemistry with Juju because he was on time in his route, understood coverages and has dependable hands. Hopkins is going to be Pats best friend right away and I won’t be suprised if he has a 100 yard game and a score or 2. This is going to be a lot of fun. Especially when we get Hollywood out there and Juju is healthy.

Yep, totally agree. Pat has had a lot of bad luck when it comes to throwing to receivers in tight window spots recently (and some not-so-tight windows), and the lack of talent at WR, especially after losing Rice, is a big part of that. And I also believe that once they develop that chemistry, DHop is going to have some eye-popping games this season.

I think he could have more than a couple 100-yd games. He could have multiple TD games, as he did last season with Levis. And some of those TDs were off 40+ yd receptions, so it doesn't have to come from a quick slant on the GL. He can still score from deep in the right situations.

I think if everything went perfectly with no hiccups, DHop could still finish the season near 1,000 yds and 10 TDs. But really I think he'll probably end up around 700 or so yards in KC and 6-8 TDs. Just depends on how fast that chemistry develops.

Juju dropped a couple TD's this year, one lead to a pick by none other than our good friend Kaulen Saunders.

Hopkins is going to feast.

Yeah, and that pick, the ball was a little high and behind JJ, which is a tough catch for any receiver, DHop caught one almost identical to that one vs. PIT (iirc) just a season ago. Just snatched it and spun his way into the EZ.

Also, side note: looked briefly at his snaps, and it looks like TEN was restricting his snaps the first couple games, but over the last couple games his snaps have trended up to over 40 snaps/game (71%\60% W6/w7 respectively ) so apparently his knee has been feeling better. Good news if true.
