Kerry Carpenter is a great story. 19th round pick of Virginia Tech in 2019. He got his 2020 season wiped out and then had a pedestrian .752 OPS at Double-A Erie in 2021. A late bloomer who can hit big league pitching.

I get that playoffs don’t play into cy young consideration. But this is why the starter gets the advantage. Skubals been absolutely unhittable this season.
