A Levelheaded Review Week 2 2024

Mahomes just flat out missed that LB lurking and threw it right to him. The pass to Rice for a TD was a thing of beauty. Perfectly placed just out the reach of the defender and right in the bread basket of Rice. That second pick was Mahomes frustration he really likes pushing the ball down the field and the Bungholes really know how to take that away and force us to play the short game.

The PI call on McDuffie was bad, Chase grabbed him by the shoulder pads inside the neck and pulled him in. The PI Non-call on Rice was terrible, the defender was there waaay before the ball.

Steele fumble just need better ball protection when running thru crowds. Defender did a good job of loading up a nice punch to knock it out. Just needs to learn from it and push on to the next rep.

Our biggest weakness on defense these first two weeks seems to be TE's. The LB's just don't seem the same without Gay out there. Bolton in coverage is always trailing...

Pacheco is looking really good this year running the ball hard and getting a lot more YPC (5.1 YPC in the first half). Also really has seemed to improve his receiving out of the backfield

Notable that Skyy Moore is getting snaps, haven't seen any Juju in the first half. Seems that most of the Offensive sets have been Worthy and Rice. Watson sprinkled in a couple of times.

Kickoff roatation has been Moore, Hardman, Steele. Hardman and Steel had been the "starting" duo last week on kickoffs. Interesting to see Moore mixed in this week makes me wonder if they are showcasing him as part of a trade for another player since we are still sitting at 52 on the active roster after Hollywood was placed on the IR.

I really wanted to see the 68 yard field goal but with 24 seconds left it was the right call and Ariaza pinned them deep and made the Bungles run the QB sneak. Could have easliy turned into 2 points.

2 things on the first drive after halftime - a thing of beauty - not what we are used to seeing but if they wanna let us pound it down their throat then we will oblige and two - holy hell Kingsly must have gottn popped good in the mouth/nose. His chin strap was covered in blood.

Wanya Morris for the TD lol - love seeing the fat guys get a TD. Could have easily gone to Kelce in the back of the EZ.

Reid leaving the game to have his hand looked at again. Hope everything is okay.

That could have been a great goal line stand but the rush kinda quit on the 4th down play. Looked like they were really tired -- bonus that their kicker missed the PAT.

The defensive line doesn't really seem to really get much of a push outside of Jones. But comes up huge with the strip and fumble return by Connor for a TD. Bummer we missed the 2Pt conversion but we needed the score by the D after the last INT.

Kingsley was getting taken to task by Hendrickson as the game wore on. Definitely need to work on figuring out LT. If he is getting abused by Hendrickson then Crosby and others are going to eat him alive. Morris seemed to fair a little better on the last drive after they pulled Kingsley. I thought the hands to the face was pretty ticky tacky. Yes, he got his hands up in Hendricksons face but it seemed pretty incidental and they came off just as fast as they went on. It wasn't a sustained hands to the face.

That was an excellent PI call on 4th and 16 he was there way too early. Too bad they missed the earlier PI call where Rice was hit too early.

Chamarri Connor on the DB blitz. What a timely sack to give the ball back to Mahomes with just over 2 minutes to go in the game.

Butker with the 51 yard FG for the win. Starting to be pretty standard that the Cheifs win against the Bangles by a FG. What a game.

Butker is the GOAT kicker.

No one else has this combination of accuracy, power, clutch, accolades, and titles.

This is Justin Tucker plus Adam Vinatieri.

A lot to work on.

Couldn't get off the field on defense until we absolutely HAD to have it.
And 3 turnovers. Just can't do that.

Kind of a miracle we won this game.

Doesn't matter much to me. This game will be forgotten by the end of the year, except in the standings.

Hope Pacheco is going to be okay.

Man, that was not a good game for the offense. No idea what the problem was, outside of the obvious, like Kingsley getting schooled by Hendrickson, but our receivers did not seem to be able to get open, shades of last season, which is a bad omen. Hope they get their shit figured out soonest.

Most disappointing part of the game is that the Chiefs didn't cover.

The win plus the tiebreaker is huge.

This is a loss last year.

They played a lot of 2 deep safeties. This forced a lot of underneath stuff that we had to live with last year and either we weren’t calling the short underneath stuff or mahomes wasn’t taking it. We did take the run game they gave us.

Two biggest (only?) issues with our team so far:

- LT is a hole unless/until Kingsley develops
- Secondary getting whooped by TE’s.

I’m sure we’ll get it figured out.

Whew. W is always better than an L.

But yeah, some concerns out there.

Lou Anurumo might be the only DC who I think is as good as Steve Spagnuolo. Dude just always has a good plan against Reid and Mahomes.

Chiefs are going to have to figure out some things at LT. I still think Suamataia can be effective and have a good season, but Hendrickson is a really tough matchup. Don't remember seeing much 13, but some 13 sets with a TE attached to the LT or coming down for a crackback on Hendrickson to slow him down seems in order.

Also have to find some adjustment in their nickel and dime sets that helps against TEs. They're getting roasted there. Maybe they can find a 3 safety look that works better, IDK.

Room to improve.

Oh, and they miss what Marquise Brown offers. He would help against tough, grabby man coverage.

Once again, I'm glad it's early in the season. Plenty of time to fix this stuff.

I hate Lou, he's such a good ****ing coordinator. Even after letting us gash them with the run game, he always finds a way to make Patrick look small. I don't know how he does it, but it's pretty impressive.

Ravens and Bengals both 2 games down on the Steelers in AFC North. That division is going to be a slugfest now and unlikely to deliver a top 2 seed.

We still have a wide receiver problem. This time you can’t be mad at the chiefs because they brought in the right guys. Hollywood was just what we needed and also bought time for worthy to develop.

But man it’s gonna be a lot of slugging it out until worthy is ready. We really need to loosen up defenses. We are dangerous short and horizontal but we are so limited vertically

It really was the 2 high safety scheme today. We need to make sure we have our 3-5 yard route tree ready for next week. If Defenses are going to play that against us again Mahomes will have to carve them up slowly instead of in chunks like he likes.
