Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Took the CZ, my primary carry gun, out as well. Hadn't shot it since the night sights were put on. Goddamn that gun shoots well. Basically made a ragged hole about an inch low left of the bullseye at 10 yards.

Took the Glock 22 out as well - hadn't shot it in a couple of years. The ragged hole was a little bigger and about three inches low left, but at least I had decent grouping.

Need to work on that low left shit. Even when I consciously try to compensate for it, it's like my brain makes an adjustment and the shots still go low left.
If you're right handed, low-left is probably slapping the trigger, especially if it's happening with multiple guns.

I'm left-handed, so my hurried shots go low-right.

Yeah, I just had a lengthy conversation about this with one of my friends. I do it with everything, but it's the least noticeable with the CZ because it has the best trigger.

Should be easily correctable with some dry fire practice.

As great as Varget powder is, it doesn't meter for shit. Might have to save the progressive loading for BL-C (2) or Ramshot.

Just goes to show that a cup of ball bearings pours smoother than a cup of toothpicks.

Frazod's thought for the day: don't ever buy a friggin IWB holster that has a plastic clip. It's the holster equivalent of a 70s Chevy with a 4-cylinder aluminium block engine - it will fail, it's only a matter of time.

The clip broke on the Garrett Industries holster I use for my 1911 C3. It seemed a bit hardier than the ones that came on cheaper holsters, but it was actually worse. I paid a lot of money for that damn thing. I'm sure they'll send me a replacement for it, but that's not the point. A quality holster should have a metal clip. Period.

And of course I have another Garrett holster for my full size 1911 with the same clip installed. That ****er's a ticking time bomb as well.

Carry a not-a-1911. Your holster problems will go away 😉

I almost never do. And the holster for my CZ has a metal clip, because I had already tired of this happening when I bought it earlier in the year.

But that's not the point. The point is these assholes selling products with fatal flaws that could be easily alleviated. I'd happily pay a couple of extra bucks for a clip that isn't guaranteed to break with regular use.

I have carried my smaller pistols in the Alien Gear Cloak Mod 3.0 and never had a problem. I'm not a big fan of IWB to begin with, but I do it every now and again.

As for the .45 (I have two). A SIG P220 and a Springfield 1911. I tried ONCE carrying the Springfield IWB and the damned thing felt like an anvil on my hip. Enough of that crap.

For me, it's a Galco OWB or nothing. In the winter I carry a SIG P226 in a Fitzpatrick shoulder rig with a coat. Comfortable as all get out.

95% of the time I carry my compact CZ. Half the time I use a traditional IWB holster and the other half I use a belly band which I really like.

OWB isn't really an option for me.

Another great deal from PSA - 12 50 cal ammo cans for $89, with free shipping.

I don't need 12, but I could use six, so I don't have to store my ammo in friggin plastic bins anymore. So I'm splitting the order with my gun snob friend.

I have a Galco IWB holster and it works great. It also has zero plastic anywhere in it or on it.

I have heard that most places have one hell of a time keeping the "Kingtuk" in stock. I am a BIG fan of leather holsters though...that's why I went with the Kirkpatrick Leather Shoulder rig..it's but a little better than say the "jackass" rig from Galco and, for me, it seems more comfortable overall.

Shot the .308 PA-10 today. Too windy and hot to put on paper, just wanted to warm it up, break it in, maybe get it close enough to hit paper.

Thing shot about 76 clicks high, but was expected with a 20 MOA riser from the M-308 mount.

Out of the box, it cycled Wolf steel case the best, but had a couple feed issues with reloads, but only on the initial bolt close (common with new gear). Funny thing, if I threw the mag in hard enough, bolt would close automatically and always chamber a round.

Will definitely need to change out the charging handle, and later drop in a better trigger.

Overall, an unbelievable gun for $700.

The ammo cans showed up this morning. I was frankly a bit shocked. I'm sure Dunit will be, too.

12 ammo cans makes for one heavy box, too. I'll bet the UPS guy was cussing me hauling it up to the porch.
