Let's Talk About the Eagles (Super Bowl 59 Discussion)

We're headed back to the Ship and will try to be the first team to 3-peat in Super Bowl history!!! Chiefs open up as 1.5 favorites over the Eagles.

Discuss.

and don't forget...

Orlovsky did a breakdown showing that Chiefs will run a bunch of condensed formations as they did against Buffalo because it will force Fangio to play two-high out of fear of deep crossers.

The two-high then creates the numbers they need to put LBs in conflict with RPOs.

I've been saying this for the last couple weeks. The Eagles 100% were bailed out by the weather.

This Eagles D is better coached and is younger and more athletic at DB. They can man up better than they did in 22, but the Chiefs also have better WRs and answers against man than they did in 22.

But they are not as deep or as good on the Dl/edge. (I think people are REALLY sleeping on how good Javon Hargrove was for Philly that year. That version of him is as good as Carter).

I mean, it was just 3 weeks ago that a team with similar but lesser personnel had its way with this Philly D.

You want to say the Chiefs aren’t good enough running the ball to run on the Eagles? Well, the Rams just did it 3 weeks ago. To great success and with great consistency.

Chiefs have a better OL than the Rams. Chiefs have a better QB who is more mobile and just as dangerous slinging it all over the field. Chiefs have a deeper group of receiving weapons. Chiefs have just as much of a mad genius at HC/OC.
While the above was true in the Rams, the snow caused a lot of traction problems on the players. Offenses always have more of advantage when the ground is slippery. So not sure how much you can read into that one game.

Agree. They did play man more than Fangio has at time. But it’s hard to suddenly play a lot of man when you’re not a man team. If it isn’t part of your DNA as a D… and yes, young players like Mitchell and DeJean are going to see some things designed to trick them and make them wrong.

Slay also can’t run with either of the Chiefs top 2. WRs. If you can get him watched up on either without S help, that’s potentially a huge problem for Philly.

I personally think Mitchell is great in man, but I think Dejean is super grabby and would have his struggles sorting out Kansas City's man-beater concepts in general.

This defense wants you to throw it underneath and let them rally downhill and tackle. That's where they've excelled.

Agree with all of this, man.

I was listening to KCSN and it was interesting to listen to them talk about how Jalen Carter plays, basically he'll over pursue and then they discussed how there is an opportunity to get Carter moving the wrong way on some running plays where Trey Smith could absolutely ear hole him to set a tone which they followed by going "Yes it'll start a fight but oh well"

Trap plays.

Defenses like this that are over-aggressive rather than two-gapping usually bode well for our run game. It's the DLs that are content to clog shit up for 1-2 yard gains that give us problems. Because those groups can play the run while letting their LBs be pass-first against the RPO.

Pound the shit out of him. He's the type of player that might just throw a punch and get ejected.

"They're gonna wear them down and beat them up. The Eagles are far superior like the Bucs game. The Chiefs have been bored and sneaking by teams this year but it's not gonna go down that way this time. Eagles win 38-28".

Chris Simms makes his pick official and it's no surprise because he's glazed that team harder than anyone ever has glazed a team before. What's interesting though is most media folks are overwhelmingly picking KC. Mike Florio, Mina Kimes, Ben Solak, Woody, Greeny and most of the ESPN folks. It's been shocking tbh. Tomorrow there will be more predictions but right now it's about 98% KC and even Ben Solak said to Mina kimes on her show at the superbowl media convention.."90% of everyone I talk to are picking the Chiefs".

In the end it means nothing when the teams get on the field but folks are certainly seeing a difference between these two teams. I just think experience is gonna matter and us going into Buff, Baltimore and playing San Fran last year is as tough as it gets and we prevailed. Our guys know what it takes to win on Sunday.

It was a close game all the way until the 4th quarter when the snow started to come down pretty hard...

Like our 49ers super bowls I think we just need to with stand the attack in the first half then do our thing the second.

That weather took away the passing games. It became a slugfest which favors the Eagles heavily. That game absolutely showed something. The Eagles were allowed by the weather to finish the game on their terms.

C'mon Chris.

They've been bored because they've been waiting for this ****ing game. He's better than that.

And 38 points would be by far the most we've given up since Super Bowl 57. More actually than even that game.

That's a non-sense, bullshit prediction from a guy who knows better.

Any thought that we can't won this game is stupid. We have won the last two SB's and beat better teams in the playoffs.

1) Vegas thinks we will won this game, and
2) There weren't, and aren't any better team than the Chiefs
