It's probably all moot. He's gonna start.

Yeah it's either him or Thuney moving over to LT.

Can't see how they realistically go back to Wanya.

Unless DJ or Thuney get injured, I doubt Wanya sees another snap this season at LT

Uh, maybe. I think they are more likely to play Thuney at tackle in this game and then give Humphries a trial series in the 2nd quarter to see how the knee is. Let's have the new guy coming back from injury play the entire game vs. a good speed rushing team... not.

They know how his knee is. He knows how his knee is. The only thing that could possibly hold him back at this point is scheme/playbook type stuff.

He's gonna start.

Also with being an OL he doesn't have to worry as much about getting fatigued. If he's even in half way decent shape, then he should be able to make it through an entire game without getting tired.

Also, after watching Thuney against the Raiders, I really hope they aren't expecting to trot him out there against that LAC pass rush. He's better than Wanya but that's not saying much. They still had protection problems even with Thuney at LT.

It's time to bring back an entry from the CP Lexicon:

What? That's ridiculous. You don't shift the OL around mid game unless it's absolutely necessary.

I'm not a huge fan of shifting multiple positions before the game, let alone during. Leave the all-world LG at LG and let the actual LT play.

If the first series is a disaster, by all means make a change. But at least TRY to do it the best way possible first.

If Thuney spent the week learning how to adjust his stance to the more traditional OT alignment, I might have a little more confidence.

But with that 'squared' stance he was playing from, he'll get dog-walked. I just don't know how he would expect to handle any sort of bull rush that way and speed will give him trouble as well.

Now you could, in theory, go REALLY RPO heavy. Because in an RPO, your OTs essentially down block anyway in case the QB gives the ball up and it's a run. And that RPO would take some of the starch out of the rush as well.

But it would essentially take shot plays off the board. You wait too long on an RPO and you're going to get an ineligible man downfield penalty. So unless it's simple 9 route that you just sail up there and let the WR run under (which Pat doesn't really do), there's really not a good way to get the ball downfield on an RPO without your OL getting too far upfield.

If DJ somehow can’t start Andy needs to put Firsker or Steel or Perine next to Thuney every down.dont care.

Steel in pass protection is not a good idea. He blew a couple of assignments big time two games or so back.

Unless DJ Humphries falls off the face of the Earth on Saturday night, the dude is going to be the starting LT on Sunday for my favorite football team of all time, the Kansas City organization.

It’s that simple. I’m already starting him on Madden so Andy better not screw this up!

His PFF grade for his practices so far is like 90. Chiefs are very impressed!
