If we were going to ultimately take a guard, we really missed out on Dominick Punni.

He’s been great.

I'd love a real 'scoop' on that knee.

Is it an excuse or has it really dicked up his mobility so badly that the one move he keeps getting wrecked on is the only move he truly has to protect the outside shoulder?

Because he was tolerable most of the year. Not good, but probably no worse than slightly below average. That'll play.

There's no way we go into next season with him as the starter, don't get me wrong. But IF the knee is truly as big a problem as some have suggested...you maybe could? Or at least find adequate veteran competition rather than come up with a long-term contract for a locked-in starter?

We won't do it. We're signing Cam Robinson because we can't repeat this season again.

But in some ways Wanya kinda acquitted himself nicely through about week 8. Then all hell broke loose.

Don’t see how they afford Thuney next year since they have zero choice other to pay a veteran LT this offseason. Hopefully DJ does the job and they resign him, but Armstead or Cam Robinson are out there, too. You absolutely can’t go into next year with a rookie unless you’re trading up, which I can’t see happening given the cost.

They have tried everything there is to try. Just going to have to bite the bullet and you can’t have 4 guys on the o-line making $20+ million. As much as I love Thuney, guards are way easier to find than tackles.

I'd much much rather pay the elite HOF level guard elite money than a slightly above average T.

Just keep swinging the axe at the LT spot.

If you put him at OG right now, I think he might be the same liability he is at OT apart from the position simply having help on either side (which again gets back to the Creed question - why would we pay an IOL that kind of money if a bad OT can be a passable to good OG?)

I think ultimately they're trying to see if they can make him playable this year. He's gonna be rostered, might as well see if there's a situation where you can use him if you need him.

I don't think this should (or will) close the door on him at OT long-term. If he gets the hand technique down, the feet and length will play at OT. And if he doesn't get that down, he's still going to get his ass kicked inside.
I think if I'm Reid and Humphries can't play, maybe I line up Kinsley at TE and just line up outside of Myles Garrett and say, "him. He's your guy. Every ****ing down." Slip him out once, just for the highlight.

Defenses spy Mahomes, maybe Offenses should spy Garrett.

Reid will never give up flexibility, so this isn't happening, but I think I might do it.

I just don’t think we have a choice but to sign Cam Robinson. There’s only 3-4 possible LT’s in the draft and every mock has them going in the top 14.

Trading up that far is most likely not happening. It’s extremely difficult.

Just sign Cam Robinson, figure out Trey’s replacement and be done with it

Yup. Don’t care. Give him $20+ million if it fixes this mess. LT is cratering the offense.

I'm not giving up on Kingsley as the eventual LT, and I hope the team isn't either

The athletic traits are all there, besides I thought the consensus around here was that he didn't have the big fat bucket and thick legs to be a good guard?

In my ideal world, Humphries is here the remainder of this season and all of next while Suamataia polishes his game up... its just waaay too early to give up, you've all given a dozen examples of guys who take time to develop at that position in this very thread

Bolles, Fisher and on and on and on the list goes... basically, only future HOFers show up as rookies and immediately start kicking everyones ass

The rest need a year or two

Yup. If he isn't looking like a capable starter by the end of next season, then go up in 2026 and get the guy. We have to give the kid a shot. I bet the Broncos, Raiders and the Colts are happy as shit they weren't as impatient with Bolles, Miller, and Raimann as this fan base is with Suamataia. Hell, even Cam Robinson, who this place wants us to sign, was absolute dogshit early on and has become merely serviceable.

He already knows the offense, too. I'd love to see Humphries play so well that they decide to keep him, but Robinson makes so much sense it's almost ridiculous. They will have to overpay, but I couldn't conceivably care less. You need to go make this happen.

The Chiefs know they can't keep doing this shit. Humphries, Robinson or Armstead will be on this roster next season.

I don't think it's a question of whether Kingsley has the potential to be a starting LT, it's whether there's a conceivable way for him to become that.

He wasn't Bolles or Fisher bad, he was "holy s*** has he ever played football bad". If he'd had half a dozen games like the Ravens one and then the Bengals game you could say "OK, risky, but there's enough shown to take that risk". But he didn't.

I just don't see any possible route where they risk him back at LT, or where they give him the opportunity to earn that spot, given the possibility he isn't just "that's a bad few snaps" but he's actively getting Mahomes killed.

It sucks if it really is more of a mental issue, but I'd bet money they try to solve the problem with a position shift and hope that both is a better skillset fit and it un-fu**s his head.

Hope I'm wrong and he's somehow the long-term LT, but I can't see them risking it.

This.

Even with Morris, you'll see plays or flashes where he's solid. With Kingsley it looks like he's never even played football before in his life.

He's the worst LT, rookie or otherwise, I've ever seen.

And if they swing and miss yet again? How much is our all world IOL helping us out right now?

I clearly don’t know much since when we used to have elite tackles with Fisher and Schwartz I longed for better than Reiter and Wylie on the IOL and thought we could pound teams into submission, but I don’t see that happening. I’d love to go back to above average tackle play, even if it meant sacrificing something on the interior OL.

The potential outcomes here are many, just saying that they drafted him as a LT so I wouldn't be so sure they're totally giving up on that idea just yet

Kolton Miller was the same way. League high 16 sacks given up his rookie season and most pressures in the league.

He’s pretty good now. It takes time. Won’t get mad if they try him again in time.
