They need to show progress on player development this year period. All of the minor league guys that matter seemed to do fine and stay at expectations or fell off. Nobody greatly increased their stock. Cags is the only consensus top 100 prospect we have. We can't keep just hoping our first round pick comes through and throw away everyone else, which is basically what you could have done for the past several years. The system needs to start producing to extend our playoff window.

Hard to imagine you take on Myles Straw and his contract (who is effectively just a minor leaguer at this point) unless you think you're getting Roki Sasaki.
But Jays fans have been burned before in these types of pursuits, so we wait. |
