But they weren't. Skyy caught a ball for 7 yards. Then in the 2nd half he caught another ball for 9 yards. Basically, we're talking about 8 yards/catch.

Then he catches that last ball, and after the RAC, he ends up with 70 yards on the day, for an averqge of 23.3yds/cach.

But we know that he didn't catch three balls for an average of 23 yards/catch. he caught a ball for 7 yards, and then a ball for 9 yards, or nowhere near 23 yards, right?

Right?

I mean, if you're Andy, when game-planning for next week, do you really think he's dumb enough to think to himself, "Skyy's been catching balls at a rate of TWO DOZEN YARDS PER RECEPTION. I need to replace MVS is Skyy!!!"

Yeah, not a chance in hell.
I don't think coaches actually replace players simply based off their average yds/catch rate, though. You know there's way more to it than that.

not at all. That's why I generally win bets on players O/U yards/game. I take out the largest/smallest outliers, specially at the beginning of a season. So next week, when Vegas puts up something for Skyy that says "O/U 70 yards," I'll know that probably isn't realistic, and was just put up because of that one catch. And the odds of Skyy getting 20+ yards of RAC per catch is slim to none.

See how that works?

Lol, obviously. I doubt any coaches do that. Because they would know, that stat lines aren't realistic indicators of what ACTUALLY HAPPENED ON THE FIELD.

WHICH IS THE POINT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE SINCE 2019.

But here’s the bigger point. We have two veterans who know the offense, know the qb, know mahomes. they are each averaging 40+ snaps per game with only 2-3 targets. And that’s fine IF they can play off someone but someone’s gotta pick up the other 90-95% of snaps.

And that’s a big deal when we are struggling to maintain drives. We need guys who can reliably contribute for that other 90% and nobody’s stepped up yet. Our most reliable WR right now is Watson who is a bubble player. There is still time and options but we don’t have to sugarcoat like our WR contribution has been remotely acceptable.

It doesn’t have to be “acceptable” in week 2.

I've literally said more than a dozen times that it's going to look a little off/clunky for the first 8-10 weeks, until the WRs figure themselves out. Until then, I've said repeatedly, that it'll be up to Andy/Pat/Travis to be great. And Spags.

But we should expect some up and down play from these guys for a few weeks.

I don't see how that's 'being negative.' It seems to be realistic, based on the outcomes so far.

Yeah, not a chance in hell.
Yeah that's all completely absurd.

You literally had a paragraph detailing how the Jags ALMOST had a couple touchdowns; yet you will happily remove plays that actually happened to try to downplay the Chiefs actual output as if that is somehow more realistic. You did this shit all last season and off-season too- they weren't REALLY the number one offense, because in this stretch of games, they struggled-

Guess what, man? It's the NFL. Nobody is flawless, nobody scores 30 plus points EVERY week, nobody goes undefeated, and the plays that happened count.

Skyy's big play counts, and if you were to be honest, you'd have to admit that this week was a LOT better than last week. 300+ passing and Kelce had 26 yards?

17 points, but you fail to mention we kneeled on their goal line to run the clock.

Penalties were the big issue, today.

There’s no reason to panic at this point. Keep developing and keep moving forward.

Ideally, by November, they’re really coming into their own

I didn’t say it had to be. Although I screamed up and down about why we need a bandaid while we sort the chaos. But I digress.

Then tell people to stop acting like our performance has been anywhere near acceptable. If you want to be optimistic that we can get better, fine. But enough with the excuses or trying to spread the blame to everyone from the OL to mahomes missing reads or even Nagy. We have some very clear WR issues right now and we may solve them, but until they are solved, they are gaps.

When looking at small datasets, taking out the outliers is SOP. Sorry, but if you think player X in my example averaged 9.9yd/cth, well, you don't know what you're talking about.
I'm curious; what do YOU think Moore's average per catch was today? Honest question.

i have no idea what you're on about at this point.

Yeah, we scored 17 points. against a defense that was ranked in the bottom third last season. A team we put at least another TD on twice last season.

We scored a pair of TDs and a FG out of 10 drives. 30%.

That's about 20% below the NFL average.

i don't care how you slice it, that's subpar.

now, did they not drop 8 balls? yes, and thank God. not that I ever thought they would repeat that shit.

But in terms of actual efficiency, they didn't really accomplish that much. Not when you go scoreless on 7-out-of-10 drives. I mean, most NFL teams will score on about 45% of their drives. Any score.

They have to do better. And again, as i've said the entire time, i think they will.

i just didn't really see that much to get excited about today. We scored three times against a team that shot themselves in the foot enough to allow KC to win with just 17 points.

Not good enough to win SBs, imo. But i continue to believe that the offense will eventually get itself sorted out.
