I was hoping that was the round 1 strategy but we just didn't get lucky with how the pass rushers fell. Somehow the board always falls right for the Eagles and never for us.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Always did.

But it feels like the only realistic landing spot was Seattle. And honestly, that was born out by them using a mid-1st on Gray Zabel.

They OBVIOUSLY wanted a guard.

But that move didn't happen. Which to me says that the Chiefs aren't willing to do it. Because if the Seahawks could've gotten Trey Smith - a known commodity and very good player who fits their specific offense better than he fits ours -- for a 2nd round pick and kept their 1st rounder to target someone like Golden or Campbell...sure seems like they'd have done it, no?

Yeah, costs them cap, but they don't have a ton of guys to be spending that on. And it simultaneously raises their floor (with Smith over Zabel) and likely their ceiling by allowing them to target a different spot.

If we were willing to deal Smith for a 2nd, I think it would've happened last night before Seattle made that move for Zabel.

Did you not watch last year? We absolutely need explosion at RB. Do we have chain movers? Yes. Do we have a back that defenses worry about? No. An explosive back in this offense would do wonders.

Maybe. maybe not. I run mocks every morning, on all of the sites, and he's nearly always there at the end of the second.

Veach specifically mentioned OL, DL, corner and receiver as positions that they always want to atttack.

Will they attack those 3 and wait for a RB in rd 4?

Also I’m hammering the trade up talk. I think it’s guaranteed we are moving up from 63 today

Boundary corner is still a need.

Yeah, I know we have Watson and Fulton but that still isn't Sneed.

Plus we draft this position as well as any team in the NFL.

Here are the guys that NFL.com says are the 28th through 36th "top remaining".

Kevin Winston Jr.
Penn State · S · Junior

Azareye'h Thomas
Florida State · CB · Junior

Miles Frazier
LSU · IOL · Senior

Tate Ratledge
Georgia · IOL · Senior

Xavier Watts
Notre Dame · S · Senior

Jordan Burch
Oregon · Edge · Senior

Tre Harris
Mississippi · WR · Senior

Alfred Collins
Texas · DT · Senior

Dylan Sampson
Tennessee · RB · Junior

If these guys constitute our main talent pool, I'm really happy with a lot of them. I'd lean toward Alfred Collins based on need, but I'd also be really happy with Sampson or Watts or ... well, pretty much any of them. This is a great pool based on our needs.

We need to exit this draft with legit prospects at WR, DT, DE, and HB. We either lack bodies at the position or just don't have guys under contract there next year. HB and DT are all older players or haven't shown much.

DT, DE, LB, Corner, safety, RB, WR, TE- we could go in a lot of directions today.

Defensive line is probably our biggest need so I hope they address that with at least one pick today. Outside of that, we have plenty of options.

That sure would be nice. As it sits Farmer may be my biggest reach in CP mock history if he falls as far as some think.

But damn it all if I don’t see a possible stud every time I’ve watched him play.
