****Official 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft Thread****

Welcome to the 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft.

We have some new owners this year, so here's a quick run-down on the rules.

Each team will have 24 hours from the timestamp of the previous pick to make their selection. If your pick is not made within 24 hours, the next owner is free to make their selection.

The draft order is now final, with the exception of possible compensatory picks. As in past years, if the NFL announces an official list of compensatory picks BEFORE we finish the 3rd round, I'll add them in. If not, the draft order currently listed will remain. Any trades made in real life will NOT change the mock order from this moment on - personally, it's just too much work, and you run the risk of a pick being traded in real life after it's been made here in the mock.

If you think there is any chance you'll miss your pick, please try to send me a PM with a prioritized list of players - I'll select the highest priority player available from your list to keep things moving.

Please try to check in at least once a day, if not several times daily. We've never had an issue finishing 7 rounds in 6 weeks and I don't expect to have a problem this year - but it's up to you guys as owners to stay current.

When making your selection, please post the name, position and school of the player (follow Hamas' lead, he knows the drill - the correct format helps greatly when updating the header) and give a quick blurb about why you selected that particular player. Doesn't have to be a novel.

I'll be in class from 11:00 - 2:00, but I'll log back in to put Hamas on the clock at Noon.

Have fun fellas.

When I picked Dickerson it was between Dickerson, Graham, and Gronkowski. I didn't picked Gronkowski because he's been injured and I think Graham is a project player.

There are a couple corners available that would be worth this selection, but both are projects who wouldn't contribute right away. I feel like there are NFL-ready corners that will make me a good deal in the 4th and 5th.

(b.) The WR options at this selection look the best to me, primarily because of Andre Roberts who has looked like gold all offseason, and Riley Cooper. On the surface it doesn't look like the Vikes would have much room for Roberts, who I'd pick here, because they still have faith that Bernard Berrian can turn it on. But Berrian's not a very good #2, and Percy Harvin's just a slot/returner. There's room for Roberts.

(c.) The Vikes would be doing themselves well by considering a QB with starter potential. Jevon Snead is who I think the Vikes would like the most. They like a QB who can gun it and spread the field, and McCoy and Pike don't have that aspect to their game. If the Vikes want a likeminded QB for Favre to rub off on, Snead makes the most sense. Snead is going to have to learn tremendous discipline, though, because his mental errors are the ones that kill his team the most.

The Vikings select QB Jevon Snead, Ole Miss.

Good pick on Graham. I didn't do much with the TE position because I think both Detroit and the NYG are happy with their two deep. If I had been in the TE market Graham would have been on my radar for sure.
It's not easy picking behind you either Hamas. The one saving grace is that we're both picking for teams with more holes than a block of Swiss.
I love Tate, he can do it all and then he just blew up the combine. Which showed me he takes his bidness seriously. That's just the type of cat the Lions need to complement Stafford.

Don't the Bucs already have Ward, Cadillac and Graham? Adding Hardesty truly makes it a luxury pick.

Ward was a pretty big disappointment(3.6 ypa) and Graham had less than 20 carries and seemed to fall out of favor. Either one could be cut IMO. I had Hardesty as a late 2nd early 3rd guy and just couldn't pass him up in the 4th.

At this point just drafting guys who can make the roster and provide depth isn't bad.

It seems as though every year in the CP Mock you can wait on a RB. My first season I had the Colts and took Joe Addai in the second round, the Colts took him in the first.

Ugh.

Joseph and Butler being taken at the end of R3 really puts the Chiefs in a tight spot. If I were Scott Pioli and this situation occurred on draft day, I'd be making calls begging to trade down. There's really only one pick that could be made where value meets need, but it's at a position I'd really prefer not to spend this pick on.

But I refuse to reach for a position of greater need when there is a 2nd round talent on the board - at a position of need. ****, what DON'T we need? And it's been reported that the Chiefs are interested in him, so...

Kansas City selects Anthony McCoy, TE, Southern California

If they can get him in the 4th, I have no problem with this pick. Not a big fan of him in the 2nd, though.

But I refuse to reach for a position of greater need when there is a 2nd round talent on the board - at a position of need. ****, what DON'T we need? And it's been reported that the Chiefs are interested in him, so...

Kansas City selects Anthony McCoy, TE, Southern California
I was right with your draft until the 3rd round. Personally, I would have went with more defense or O-line with both of the last two picks, but that is just me.

A+ from Coogs for first two rounds.
B- to C+ for rounds 3 and 4.

There wasn't an OL worthy of a pick here. And I'm all ears as to who would have been better value in R3 than Gilyard. JD Walton and Linval Joseph would have filled needs, but would have been huge reaches.

Reaching for need is part of the reason why we're lacking in talent.

FWIW, for all that has been made of the depth of this draft class, it largely dries up after the top 100.

I got PM'd and see that Mecca's pick is on the big board so here we go.

I completely ****ed off that I didn't have a 3rd round pick when I picked up Jackson in the 2nd. Oops. Luckily for me there is still a guy on the board that I think can come in and play slot right out of the gate. He'll also compete to return some punts for us as well. His stock his risen since the Senior Bowl where he shined.

The Seattle Seahawks select Andre Roberts WR The Citadel

I should break that down I guess, the Redskins need a 3-4 end, Carrington has been rising and probably has fallen a bit more than he should of, just a straight value pick.
