Well you're diversified I can tell you that much.
Stocks that I've considered that you have are CRWD, PLTR, COIN, BLK, BRK-B and BKD. You should buy BRK-A while you're at it. |

Investing megathread extravaganza
The prices are high and there is talk of screwing with cap gains limits.

Stock screening and boozing is taking place before a dip in the pool.
This is the watchlist. Some of these have patterns that need to extend first but they should be watched. Below that is the best looking patterns and entries for breakouts. ARDX EVRG STLD WCC ENTG EXTR SWAV DIOD GRMN ARW SSTK CORE FHB HLT ALLE PM MANT TTMI CW EXPE WBA Best entries: ENTG brk 116.55, stop 112.49, 3.5% risk SSTK brk 94.25, stop 91.80, 2.6% CORE brk 47.83, stop 45.60, 4.7% ARW brk 124.76, stop 119.99, 3.8% Secondary entries: GRMN brk 145.20, stop 141.62, 2.5% CW brk 128.55, stop 124.05, 3.5% WBA brk 55.96, stop 53.25, 4.8% AAPL brk 128.47, stop 126.60, 2.2% risk Sometimes the patterns you scan for don't end up materializing. Instead the stock may trend down, move sideways or breakout before squatting. That why you keep a handful of patterns ready so that if your initial targets do not perform as expected, you move on to another stock that meets your criteria. If you have questions please ask. I hope someone is learning from this. And again, this is trading stocks, not long term positions. Long term positions in indexes/funds make up 80%+ of my total investments. |

Consult an advisor on how to protect this money from capital gains issues and report back on some of the suggestions. I'd be interested to know. The bad part about dividends is that you can be taxed on them even if you reinvest them. |

If we sell now, depending in sale price, cap taxes are around 20%. I know there is talk about that going up depending on amount and tax bracket now.
We would complete the sale before the end of the year. I just feel we pay taxes on dividends now AND when we take payments later.

Any Capital Gains increase will not be sudden or retroactive.
The earliest they could do it would be starting next year. So sell now at low cap gains rate.

I think the proposed cap gains tax changes are only for people making an obscene amount of money. We're talking second-string defensive end money.

Sale Price - Basis = gain. Then the rates are different based on your income. The tax liability on the gain you’ll want to keep liquid. If you put it in an instrument like a mutual fund or ETF you won’t have any tax until you sell it (and only if there is a gain). Dividends you have to pay on every year. But if you’re using a professional you can have the dividends paid to a money market rather than Reinvested. One thing I know for sure, make sure your people are good. There are some straight shit Accountants put there and some of them are CPAs. And the “financial planning” industry is littered with ****s that will just charge you ridiculous fees. Make sure they’re good. If you don’t know it probably isn’t worth finding out. Quote:
I have no idea what he’s got or who all he’s splitting it with, but farmland is ****ing crazy right now. And depending on how long he’s had it, it wouldn’t take a ton of acres to get to a mil if the basis is low. Especially up there. |
