Hell, even in the original thread, I initially started advocating for a "prototypical WR," not DHop specifically. "A guy to replace Sammy's role in the offense," is what I said. I typed that phrase so often I've worn those keys more than the others.

I began making an argument for DHop because I was bored; it was the off-season and I thought it might a good conversation. D___9 got insulting about it, so I'm ribbing him a little, because now all of the sudden he's on the DHop train.

It's all water under the bridge now though; just messing around. MNF isn't watchable and I'm not that into the WS, it's just on. So I'm goofing around, that's all.
I never felt like you had an issue with me....mine is more of a "confession booth" thing considering how people like to search posts and point out contradictions in people's posts old and new.

Last night WAS a lame night for sports honestly......the MNF game wasn't even remotely entertaining, the World Series means nothing to me since the Royals are not in it....and Raw on Monday night was only 2 hours instead of 3 and what was on was pitifully done again.

Hopefully Hopkins serves as a warning to others that when the Chiefs try to entice you to sign with them, you say YES.

Glad Hopkins is here, but his snub still makes me a little pissed off. It's the same bullshit that Silverdick did, but unlike Hopkins, Silverdick is now rotting in ringless hell. And that makes me happy.

True. But, I really think the Hopkins situation was different. If you remember he didn't sign with anybody for a long time and that was right when Chris Jones was doing his holdout. You know Chris and he are very tight and I'm sure Chris was keeping him posted on the situation and once it was apparent that it was going to be a lengthy ordeal, Hopkins signed with the Tits.

I don’t understand why people get upset over a player passing on their team for more money. Why turn down millions? Loyalty is overrated these days, should always focus on yourself.

I bet most of you would quit your job to take a paise raise doing the same shit lol. That’s what he did when he left Arizona for Tennessee. I don’t blame him tbh

I'm kind of sick of this line of reasoning. "EVERYBODY TAKES MORE MONEY NO MATTER WHAT"

No, they don't. Look around your own life. How many people do you know who turned down a higher paying job if it meant a worse environment or lower job satisfaction? It happens all the time in the world of average joes.

Let's say you've already made a mega millions deal and you're a free agent next offseason. The Jets are offering you the most money. You're gonna take that deal? Well, you might, but there are a ton of NFL players who wouldn't, because that franchise is complete AIDS.

Average Joe's are turning down jobs where the difference is maybe 10 to 30k. We are talking about millions here.

The average joe would sell out his favorite team and let you piss on him everyday for that kind of money.

I kind of suspect Hopkins likes to be "the guy". Last year he would have been coming in as the third most heralded player on that offense, on a team that has already experienced massive success that he wasn't a part of.

I may be reading it wrong, but in his interviews with KC media so far he seems to kinda want to tamp things down in terms of his "excitement" to join the Chiefs and play with Patrick Mahomes, which reporters keep pummeling him with questions about. I think he's getting comfortable with a new role that isn't the "alpha" leader of a team.

The difference of 10 to 30K as a percentage of what they usually make? It's probably on par with the percentage difference in salary offered by different NFL teams.

Except your career is what 50 years of income.

The average NFL career is 3 years. 3 years to make enough money to support them for the rest of their life. Even the best players probably only see one real money contract.

I think if you're talking about the difference between 1-2mm per year, then your argument has some merit.

But more likely than not the Titans paid him far, far more than the Chiefs were offering (we don't know the details here, but we do know they weren't even in the ballpark for the OBJr contract). For that reason I think it's ridiculous to harbor any ill will toward the guy for not coming here in the first place.

If Chris Jones hadn't held out for his contract, would we have had the room to get Hopkins in here after that deal was done? It seemed like Hopkins was just hanging around out there waiting for us to call him, then went to the Tits on his two year deal when Jones' holdout went into the regular season.

Eh, but for most of us we're somewhat month to month just trying to make sure all the bills get paid and hopefully retire some day. When you're sitting on top of a fortune of $100M+, it seems like you might start to prioritize other goals in life. You aren't "rushed" to try to earn, you can already live like a king off of the interest, even if you live to 1,000 years old.
