We got so focused on the plays that juuuuust missed that we lost track of the fact that hey - 20 of 'em hit. And when they hit, that's points on the board in some fashion.

MVS collapsing has really hurt us a lot. And like you, I just don't understand it. I mean I'll accept that he didn't get any better but damn, he shouldn't have gotten worse.
But is it regression ? Or is it regression to the mean?

I’d argue it’s way more the latter. If Mvs saw regular snap counts all season he’d be back to his production in Green Bay. He and Toney were lightning in the bottle. They didn’t produce consistently and were very very sporadic. They just hit big at just the right times. But these guys have historically been lots of busts with a few big booms. We’re just missing the booms from these guys. A consistent target eater buys you a little patience to get through the slow periods on guys like this

It’s a combo of that on top of defenses taking what we want to do, kelce being a touch less effective, kelce and mahomes regressing because lots of other things are regressing.

But everyone needs to understand, as we go along here, that's gonna have to happen somewhere.

It'll be interesting to see when they do it next year with the defense, who people will blame when we lost games in which the defense forced a punt or two. I don't know that Cp is ready for that.
No it doesn't HAVE to happen. I don't know why people keep saying that. If they draft a better player than Skyy last year and team him up with Rice this year, this conversation isn't happening. Or if they got Tank Dell, Puca, Downs etc in the later rounds of this draft. Good solutions can be had for cheap. Just like theyve found good solutions for cheap when it comes to the DBs. The difference is that they are miles better at identifying DB talent than WR talent and theyve thrown numbers at the DB room and developed the talent there.

I'll still hang on to the contract still being flexible if they choose. They just haven't chose that for some reason. I.e. using money from the backend of his contract to raise his numbers up the next 3 years instead of using cap space from this year and giving yourself room to sign players.
Well this off-season we should be able to go and spend quite a bit, especially if we don't resign Jones and cut MVS. That'll put us over $60 mil in cap space I think.

It's like me on a diet.

Oh look, I'm actually losing weight by eating a protein shake for dinner and oatmeal for breakfast. Let's see if I can mix in one breakfast a week a that French bakery I like. And maybe a breakfast burrito on one other day. And stop for a slice of pizza after the gym on leg day.

Aaaaaaand now I'm not losing weight anymore.

I'm looking forward to going back to all the money and such being on the offense and everyone bitching about the defense being inept. It'll be fun.

That's moneyballing it. The draft is a crap shoot.

You mean like a top 10 RB in the 7th round?

They whiffed on Moore.

Huh? Veach has drafted Hardman, Skyy and Rice at WR. Skyy is a major bust, Hardman was at least useful and Rice looks like a major hit in the making.

He's also drafted 2 RB's. Clyde looks like a bust (but was somewhat useful stat wise) and Pacheco was a major steal.

I would hope they can make some moves for sure.

Load up the offense. I don't think you can keep an elite defense together that long anyway, so try to hodge podge one together that can get a few stops a game and work from there.

I'm not a fan either, I'd have kept Tyreek and traded all our picks for Brian Burns.
I'd do an aggressive restructure every season and every time I see a major need. Does anyone care if we're in cap hell for a year or 2 after he retires? As long as there's future years to push his money off to, signing players that we need would never be a cap issue for me.

If they had restructure an additional let's say $5mil this year to afford Hopkins, would anyone be mad?

They should definitely have taken the same approach with WR as they have with DB in the draft. Don't just draft 1 WR, but instead get 1 fairly high and then 1 or 2 more later in the draft.

They've drafted 7 DBs the last 2 years. We've drafted 8 WRs in the past 8 drafts. We really need to throw more draft capital at the position.

McKinnon gave us 500+ yds receiving, and 10 TDs, and a lot of 1st downs. Way over-produced for a RB2 with a chronic injury history.

Hardman gave us 300 yards receiving and 6 TDs, 4 in the RZ in 8 games.

It was never just replace JJSS. That was a big piece, but essentially another WR2’s yards/1st down production is missing.

But those 16 TDs, there’s no replacement for that. That’s the outlier performances. Those two never should’ve scored 16 TDs. And no one should’ve expected them to repeat that, or to get that from another pair of backup players.

Now add in the fact that MVS has fallen off a cliff and Skyy is a bust. That’s the hole in the offense

But they aren't going to get to those late year deals, like this year, there's gonna be another restructure.

So they aren't gonna push money out that far I doubt. 27 looks like another year they'll want a bump or something.

Clark Hunt has to cash the check if you're gonna restructure. That's literally money from his pocket to give to Mahomes. It's happened once so far yeah?

Clark isn't gonna pull that card very often.

Yeah, gotta draft better than that. A player that you allowed to walk in FA for no compensation shouldn't be your best 2nd to 3rd round pick when it comes to playmakers. Especially if there were multiple players picked after that are better.

You have to either draft better, or develop players better. That's happening with even Rice. He looks way too talented for 87% of his catches to be within 10 yards and 32% be behind the LOS.
