Mahomes has thrown into much tighter windows before. That window is ****ing huge. And if he puts it up high it's virtually zero risk. Ball should have been out.

'23 Mahomes is not '18 Mahomes, sadly.

Do you want to see what Mahomes looks like when he throws with confidence and anticipation?

This.

Mahomes knows how small the windows in the gold zone are. He's demonstrated it dozens of times.

That close to the end zone, that's as big a window as you'll get without blown coverage. And he's thrown a hundred balls into tighter windows than that in his career.

He just didn't stay within the structure of the play. And again, that's something he's struggled with most of the season. He's just not playing on time.

He should've immediately come off Kelce and seen that lane to the safety's left. As has been noted, those are the windows you get inside the 10. If you're unwilling to throw that ball at that time, don't call that play.

Because that play worked as designed. The QB just didn't stay with the design.
Right, it was there early and Mahomes likely didnt see it as Kelce was the first read. After that he gets flushed from the pocket and once he gets his eyes back up the throwing lane is gone IMO, and Mahomes committed to the scramble.

I just dont think this one is worth all that much discussion. Had their not been a holding penalty, we're inside the 5.

That throw to D-Rob has NO window.

And in what would should he trust Demarcus Robinson more than Rashee Rice?

At the risk of beating a dead horse, a LOT of this is on Pat. He's gotta get past the mental block.

Throw the ball.

Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we?
Could we?

He left the pocket. He didn't get flushed from it. There was ample time/space to make a small move within the pocket and throw a TD.

And without the scramble, there is no holding penalty.

It was 4 points off the board (5 after the missed 2 point we chased) in a game we lost by 8 with the ball and an easy chance to get into FG range.

Yeah - that warrants discussion.

Yep, Kelce is possibly the first read here, either by design or because he’s Kelce.

Look at the defense, though: I can’t tell if the call was just standard zone and the safety decided to abandon his middle of the field to help with Kelce or if the play call was designed to bracket Kelce with Quay Walker and the safety the whole time. You can see Walker is on Kelce like glue. Every other defender is defending their space and he just heads straight for Kelce’s pocket. The safety does similar, he’s drifting with Kelce and drops down once he sees Kelce hit the whip.

Either way, it should have been clear very quickly that Kelce wasn’t open there. I think either throw here results in a pretty easy TD, tbh.

I’m not upset or anything. Still love Mahomie but this is a microcosm of our season here. He definitely needs to step up (as do the tackles and WRs).

We have to get rid of the myth that they don't put Rashee in the game in the red zone. They do.

Rashee is wide open again here but unfortunately the OL shits itself. Not gonna blame Wanya too much.

Mahomes looks at Kelce here and he's doubled. By the time he gets to 2ns read he's toast. Agh. I bet he hits Rashee here if he had more time.

Yeah, if Mahomes could read the entire field at once that could help our offense.

Guys...the answer is cloning Kelce. The Clarks have enough money to hire a lab to get it done.
