On sheer musical talent...Beatles. They reinvented themselves about 3-4 times...nobody on that list did that other than Bowie.

Pink Floyd laughs at them all though...but they are immovable Gods...fighting is for mortals.

I seriously can't see any group on a par with The Beatles. They have so many iconic tunes that will stand the test of time.




Obviously if talking blues ,jazz, country, bluegrass, soul, funk etc then we are talking something else.

I can say that the Beatles started out as a candy-ass pop band...then, thanks to Lennon (and LSD), became artistically valid.

Floyd started out as an experimental art band...and never put out bubble-gum shit like "I want to hold your hand"....far stretch from NIN's "I want to **** you like an animal".

Floyd wins on an integrity scale...it's really a matter of personal preference...they are both transcendent. Not even the same kind of music...Beatles are more traditional/assessable format.

Beatles has the rare combination of McCartney...who was more straight-laced/conventional...and Lennon...who was more anti-establishment. That chemistry produced amazing work.

Floyd was more "**** off...you suck. Take our music or leave it"
