What Deron Cherry is talking about occurred in the 1990 season & it just so happens that Elway had done the same thing earlier in the Donks game at Buffalo and then when play resumed, Elway fumbled the snap from Center and Cornelius Bennett of the Bills recovered the fumble & Buffalo scored a TD on the next play. Donks lost to the Bills 29-28 with Elway's fumble being the deciding factor.

Of course, Elway didn't think anything of his Donkeys fans doing that exact same thing at Mile High whenever an opposing team was backed up close to their own goal line.

Geez, this obsession you guys have with the Broncos is really really troubling, there's so many of you that really need to LET GO! And you cheering for Elway to die, that's just over the top twisted.

They made a documentary movie about John Elway because people everywhere loved the guy, loved to watch him play. He's the reason that, according to NBC Sports, as of 2020 the Broncos were featured on more national telecasts than any other team from 1970-2020. (Admittedly, a good part of that record is due to the Broncos being one of the few teams whose home games are played in the late Sunday window).

Elway was very good at late-game comebacks. There are numerous definitions of "comebacks," you guys quoting just one merely begs the question. But there are there are several unambiguous records nobody can argue with:

  1. Upon retirement, Elway had won more games than any QB ever.
  2. He led his team to more Super Bowls than any QB ever
  3. He was starting QB in more Super Bowls than any QB ever

Sorry to rain on your hate-parade, but them's just the facts.

Hmmm ....

Something is fishy about this list. It's from the merger forward to THIS YEAR!

Hmmmm ... something's fishy!

So.... that last post shows that as late as 2020, the Broncos had 45 more NFL wins than the Chiefs (see above ^^^), and led 23-13 in playoff wins (look it up yourself).

Now, even as late as THIS YEAR, with most all of the "Mahomes Magic" factored in, Broncos STILL have 22 more NFL wins than the Chiefs:

This is a great video ... it tracks the number of win starting at the merging and going forward by year. So refreshing to have some Broncos TRUTH in this thread. From 1970 thru 75, Broncos are missing completely from the top 15 or so teams listed up the left side there. Then we peek in in 1974, pass the Chiefs late in 1976, and shortly thereafter ascend into the Top 10, where Broncos have remained (frequently as high as #4).

Chiefs have not caught up since we passed them in 1976, after we had shaken off the inequity of economics in the AFL.

ANYHOO ... enough bragging, I'm sure you can't wait to see this video:

It's 3am on Christmas Day. I'm waiting for my flight. What the hell are you doing up like this trying to spread your dumbass sophistry on a Chiefs forum?

In any case, maybe if you wish hard enough, Santa will make all the AFL wins/losses go away and you can hold onto your precious cherrypicked stats.

1 a.m. here, genius.

If there's a question, it's what are YOU doing up? (BTW, it's pretty sad you call simple numbers "sophistry").

There's no "cherry-picking" here, just going by the numbers. I'll admit I haven't checked whether the numbers provided in this video are accurate, but I'm pretty sure they are.

What? As if that’s any better? Why are you spending time on a Chiefs forum that hates your guts at 1am on Christmas Day?

It's called "cherry-picking" because you're choosing a time frame that puts your team in the best light. It just so happens that the time frame you are choosing ignores an era when the Chiefs absolutely dominated the Broncos. So, why don't we look at a comparison that includes the entirety of history for both teams?

Chiefs - 998 games played
Broncos - 998 games played

At the end of the regular season every one of the original AFL teams will have 1000 regular season games played. That is every original AFL team except for Buffalo because they never bothered to finish their game against Cincinnati a couple years ago.

Current records as of 7:30 am 12-25-24:

Chiefs - 546-440-12, 1st among all AFL teams
Broncos - 517-471-10, 3rd among all AFL teams

The Texans/Chiefs have won 29 more regular season games than the Broncos, but how about win percentage?

Chiefs - .5531, 1st among all AFL teams
Broncos - .5230, 4th among all AFL teams

Well, that is just the AFL teams, so how do the Chiefs and Broncos stack up among the rest of the NFL?

Chiefs - .5531 is 4th all-time among all NFL teams
Broncos - .5231 is 12th all-time among all NFL teams

So, you think postseason performance is what matters. How many Super Bowls has each team won?

Chiefs - 4
Broncos - 3

Well, those are all numbers that show contests against everyone. Why don't we look at just the games between the Chiefs and Broncos?

Chiefs - 73 wins
Broncos - 55 wins

That is regular season games only, but if you want to include the one playoff game between the Chiefs and Broncos, you can add 1 win to the Broncos total, but remember that the Broncos blatantly cheated to win that game.

Now, I know all of these numbers may be upsetting to a cherry-picker like yourself, but these are all objective facts that include the entirety of our shared histories. They are much more useful than picking a start date that puts your team in the best light. It is a form of lying. If that is your purpose, why not choose 2019 as your starting point? It might make the Chiefs look vastly more powerful than the Broncos, but who cares? Why bother with the truth when you're trying to make your team look much better than what it truly has been?

Hey, STUPID -- you haven't rained on anything & you're just pissing on your own head & telling yourself it's raining, which is the only 'rain' effect that has occurred. Those are nothing but longevity stats that only mean that Turd Elway played a long time.

You say that you come here wanting to talk football, but all you really want to do is peddle Donktard mythology without any challenge.

Let's talk about these REAL stats of his:

Turd Elway played in 100 games with his Donkeys trailing at the end of the 3rd QTR and only brought them from behind to victory 24 times. That percentage of 24 ranks Elway 40th all-time in that category.....with Patrick Mahomes ranking 1st and Joe Montana ranks 5th.

Turd Elway only has 3 legit SB appearances and his REAL SB record is 0 wins, 3 losses, and 2 given to him as going-away presents because Turd Elway wasn't good enough to win any SB in legit fashion on a level playing field.

Elway's lifetime record against teams above .500 was 52-47.

From 1983 through 1989 Turd Elway threw 6 TD's and 23 INT's against KC.

This is how Elway compares to his own peers. During John Elway's career (1983 to 1998), there were 19 QBs who started 100+ games. Here is where Elway ranks in major statistical categories:

Completion%: 16th
TD%: 13th
INT%: 10th
Passer Rating: 14th
Yards per Attempt: 10th
Adjusted Net Yards per Attempt: 11th

Donkeys all-time SB record is 0 wins, 5 losses, and 3 gifted to them as going-away presents (two to Turd Elway & one to 5-head Manning).
