Those two drives were BRUTAL.

Because you knew - you KNEW - they were game enders. Go down and score on either of those and it's ballgame. And both times had plays to be made to keep things working and he just wouldn't throw the damn ball on time. Both came after defensive stops and the momentum was there for the taking.

First half I got that kinda queasy feeling I got about 30 minutes into watching The Last Jedi -- "Uh oh - this movie might be bad..." And those two drives really put an exclamation point on it. Those drives weren't on his weapons. They were on Mahomes.

And again, once it got to 14-17, Mahomes started to play better. Then there was the fumble and Watson/MVS ****ery that everyone is focusing on. But through 17-14, Mahomes wasn't playing good football and with the opportunities the offense had, it shouldn't have ever come to that.

I have no clue how the Packers ****ed that up for so many years, but would love to know exactly how this past year has gone down with the Chiefs.

I really have to assume Mahomes is signing off on certain moves or at the very least has a pretty damn loud voice in what to do in terms of signing free agents or someone at the trade deadline, etc.

A few people have a specific ax to grind with Veach or Reid or whoever, but what is Mahomes' role in all this.... and is the problem that they DO listen to him? Is Mahomes saying he's good, can make it work, spend money elsewhere... and Reid or someone should say nah, you're getting Hopkins.

They were probably all wrong in some degree and I'd have a really hard time believing if they don't win a SB this year (or maybe even if they do), they're not all - including Mahomes - saying, well shit that didn't work, and doing what they've done in recent years for the offensive line and defense.

If anything, we can only hope this year put to bed the idea some in the Chiefs FO had that Nagy was Reid’s natural successor.

Veach and Nagy played college football together, right?

I’d love to say those relationships don’t matter, but I’m not naive to it. Happy to be wrong about that.

Their WR room is significantly more talented than ours. That's the difference

We have 3 guys out there at WR who are high picks in their first 3 years in the league and should be developing into contributors if not star players, and they're all just a step above gadget players at best. We'll probably end up drafting another WR high this year. They aren't out there giving Mahomes guys like Pringle and Robinson and going cheap on it. We're probably going to have 4-5 guys on the roster next year who are serious investments at the WR position.
KC got Toney for a third round pick for a reason.

Calling him a first round pick, while technically true, is completely disingenuous.

As far as KC is concerned, he was a roll of the dice the dice who may turn into a star/high contributor or may strike out. That's the risk you take on an obviously high ceiling/obviously high injury risk guy with a mid draft pick.

Now Skyy just looks like whiff.

I'm ok with the gamble considering what they gave for him.

I'm not ok with using him as a running back.

Veach also got Nagy his first job in the NFL. Really really hope Veach is smarter than that.

The more I watch that mvs drop the more I can't believe what a dot that was. I think mvs slows down (?) And even still it's on him and with perfect separation. I don't know why mvs slowed down to where it was arguably ever so slightly out of reach. If mvs doesn't slow down that pass falls right in his hands

Receivers suddenly forget how to find space in zone

Personnel question marks

Mahomes *whisper voice* regresses

All of which is still TBD but 11 weeks in and I think the questions are becoming more valid

Thats definitely true, but isn't it also starting to feel like Nagy is soft?

Maybe I'm just grasping at straws trying to find a scapegoat, but Nagy is the only major change this offense has made

Juju was swapped for Rice and thats it, its a wash

Maybe, just maybe that edgier dynamic Eric had with Pat and co actually worked better... maybe he kept everyone "on their toes" better, so to speak

Mahomes really wants to win and challenge Brady but he also wants to score points and put up stats. He doesn’t want down seasons or anyone questioning who is better or playing better. So I have hard time believing he wouldn’t be pushing for a true #1 receiver. And if he wasn’t due to how good he was last season and how winning with that group made him look even better than ever, after this season, he definitely will be. But as you said, it’s impossible to know what, if any, influence he has on that.
