Guess my location

I'm going on one of my occasional walkabouts. Over the next two months, I'll post a dozen or so photos of my location. First one to guess my location correctly wins nothing but a little satisfaction with wasting their time on this thread. I'll generally point at the item of interest so you know it's me and not an imposter.

If I get kidnapped by natives or jungle rebels or aliens, please write to your congressperson to get me released.

I'm telling you, people. The Amazon River is big. It's really, really big. The first 200 miles up the mouth you could barely see the shore on either side. This is the width of the rivers 500+ miles inland, and the rainy season is just starting so the river is low right now. If the Amazon River was a woman, it would be an Amazon.
May I ask.....WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN THE AMAZON???

I found myself with some free time, and I thought, "I wonder what the Amazon is like".

So far I've bought a carved wooden capybara for five bucks, and got a cool t-shirt.

There's all sorts of stuff you can catch in the water here. And a few things that can catch you.

I haven't even seen any. I did briefly see a pink dolphin surface, though.

The people here live a pretty alien life to me. There's a big city that's more typical, but the people who live out on the river have an odd existence. They have floating houses that are actual houses, not boats. As the seasons change, they use their boats to tow the houses into the city (dry season) or out into the wilderness (wet season).

Interesting indeed but I'll live vicariously through you and YouTube on this one. The bot fly in and of itself is enough to keep me away.

I'm brave to the point of stupidity until in comes to invasive insects that can fly and land on my body then pierce my epidermis.

God's speed Rain Man!

I continue my walkabout, and I have a tough clue for you today. Where am I?

Something historic happened in this house in the early 1800s.

Good guess, but the event was from a different war of independence.

You were born here? Just guessing, but the timeline fit.
