A Level Headed Review Week 12 2024

ST- Kickers continue to do the impossible by hitting things that are hard to hit. Hilarious watching the ball doink the ref in the head.

Schrader the hero of the game.

Defense - seems to still have a hard time with getting home on the pass rush without the extra blitzer. Didn't see if Uche had any snaps but since Young is a mobile QB they probably limited him again. It seems that every time we got burned on 3rd down the route was that under cross route that Pat made famous with Hill/Hardman in the AFC Divisional round against Buffalo a couple years ago. Just sneaking that WR under a go route. I'll have to go back and watch again, but it seems like we are really struggling on 3rd and long.

Maybe it's a focus thing? Seems like a lot of unnecessary penalties towards the end of the game, McDuffie looked lost on that TD pass and then commits the PI buy running into Moore.

TE - Kelce passes Jason Whitten for all time receiving yards. Noah Grey is really making himself known as a legitimate threat opposite Kelce.

OL - Wanya has gotten beaten bad a couple of times but so has Taylor. On the first TD pass you can see below it is Taylor losing to his man that causes Pat to run up in the pocket. Good news is Pat was only sacked once in the first half but it was Wanya getting beat around the edge.

Wanya got smoked again on the last drive in the 4th Q. I really hope DJ Humphries can get up to speed fast. The last two drives have been atrocious for the offense. Can't seem to get protection down for Pat, especially on exotic pressures. It's like they are so focused on providing help to the tackles that free runners are creating havoc for Pat.

Taylor getting owned by Clowney, the last play on the blitz JJSS missed picking up the blitzer instead chipping the DE.

RB - Steele/Hunt/Perine really stepping up and making big gains on the relief valve passes. Hunt with only 7 carries for 24 yards at half (3.4 yards per). Really gotta get the running game going more.

After watching the 1st half - Pat seems to be better and zipping passes into tight windows. I think he was being hesitant earlier in the year because he wasn't comfortable with the WR's making the catch on a tight window throw possibly leading to a turnover. You can also see Worthy is getting more involved in the passing game.

WR - I wasn't sure Hopkins had any emotions, every time he does an interview he is very reserved in his answers and emotions. This makes me very happy to see.

Intersting....really hope Worthy can turn it up as we get closer to the playoffs.

The boys just don’t seem to be having much fun.

Body language often looks like a team under .500.

I hope this changes

Yeah, pretty much nothing for 2025. His salary guaranteed for 2025 on the 3rd day of the 2024 league year. We're stuck with him until 2026.

The quality with which they are playing looks like a team under .500 yet they keep pulling it out. We look like a 1-and-doner. Hopefully, the guys coming back lift the quality up a few notches.

I trust in spags enough. We’ve seen him tinker around with his lineups and give lots and lots of rope to struggling players and then tighten it up by the end of the season. Nazeeh feels like that guy right now. I’m sure for the main stretch we will have omenihu and more uche.

I don’t think wanya is 100% and even if it’s uncharacteristic of Reid I imagine we see humphries after our long week. Pacheco makes a huge difference. Dhop will eventually be on less of a pitch count. Hollywood hopefully comes back.

Forgot how much I hate overreaction twitter. We will be fine. We are 10-1 even knowing we have so much coming back to us

Mahomes was running around the field like they just won the Super Bowl a couple weeks after the blocked FG and the team seemed to be having a pretty ****ing good time.... I mean, since then if they look like a team that lost a game and made another game harder than it should be, okay. It's the same narrative as last year.

There's nothing like a prime time playoff game at Arrowhead.... it's seriously in the realm of saving up for a year for a family vacation to KC in late January.

That bizarre drive where they took 14 plays to go 47 yards for a FG. 2nd and 1 at the 5 turned into 4th and 22. Four penalties and a sack. Never seen that many penalties inside the 25.

Young and their receivers really impressed . Kareem continues to find a way to get much needed yards at critical times. Feeling fantastic about our skill group now.

Also, I hate to use this excuse but also felt like this was one we could look past. Non conference game with a short week division game coming up.

Just not as good as we used to be. Mahomes knows it. But he’s a gamer and won’t let us lose. Anyone else just bitter as hell that Tyreek Hill chased the rainbow instead of staying here and breaking every record in the books. Damn this offense misses him

The KC offense was not the problem today. Should not be allowing 27 points to a very bad Carolina offense.

I was trying to figure out if that was the conclusion I needed to come to.

I'm not sure I'm there yet. Trey Smith changed from a very different college offense and stepped right in and excelled. Same with Creed.

I dunno. But the resources put into the OL, it should be performing better. Short term hiccup or problem? Remains to be seen.

My guess is they have changed the protection schemes to benefit Morris and that has left Taylor on an unusual island where he might get more help on chips and from the Smith he is not anymore. Just a guess and I'd really have to pay attention to the blocking schemes from last year to really get a good handle.
