So lets talk some legit options for our pick.

So with Breeland coming back that pretty much leaves us open to take the best player on the board.

I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

He needs some polish, no doubt, but he has elite measureables, including things that relate to short-area quickness - which is huge in route-running.

Putting him in a situation where he’s surrounded by technicians at his position and can be rolled into game action in specific situations that accentuate his already-present skills could work.

He didn’t have to work off rough edges in the college game but could do so quickly at the NFL level, IMO.

It’s probably a stretch for KC at 32, but at 63 it would be worth it.

Mims has legit lateral speed which many of these tall, bigger guys don’t have. Mims remind me an awful lot of Darius Slayton who had 8 TD’s as a rookie last year.

That’s probably why Denver is rumored to love the kid...their new OC Shurmur drafted Slayton in NY last year.

Yeah, that's what sells me. It doesn't show up in game action - yet - but Mims has the physical tools to do a lot of things you don't see from guys that size. He's not an instant impact/instant starter, IMO, but could be a real player starting in Years 2 and 3.

I have him as a late 2 so we're on the same page. The difference is I don't expect players to dramatically change. I am a what you see is what you get. So if Mims stays where he is then he could be a Tyrell Williams with better jumping. That got 10 million in FA but...nothing too difficult for an NFL defense.

Route running is one of the few things that CAN be corrected, though. That's a matter of repitition, instruction, and holding players accountable to doing it the right way.

Mims has the physical ability to run crisp routes and make sharp cuts because of his agility. Not everyone has that.

Hill is a great example of a guy who became a real technician as a pro.

Aiyuk falls into the same general category, I think. Both have good Wonderlic scores for wideouts, which helps with development of the more subtle nuances of things.

Yeah. Aiyuk, Shenault and Higgins can all **** off. This guy looks like the 3rd best receiver in the draft. And we probably won’t have any shot at getting him, but goddamn is he gonna be good.

Aiyuk and Jeudy are two of the top YAC machines which is a big reason their teams tried to get the ball in their hands often, no matter how. Screen game receptions is not a degrading stat and speaks nothing to a receiver's skill set. You're beyond quoting a stat that ridiculous, come on man. You look at those two guys and they both also happen to be among the top route runners in this class. Look at how often Reid used the screen game to overcome QB and Oline deficiencies in the past.

I'm fully on board with calling Mims a legitimate prospect. I do think his slow release is proper in his scouting reports but his overall speed may make coordinators second guess pressing him to take advantage. He's also not a very polished route runner but he can get better there. He has his warts, as do all rookies.

Apparently Denver is in love with the kid. Whether or not that is window dressing or not, we shall see.

Sure..theoretically. Of course I can only think of two players who changed dramatically from what they were in college.

Tyreek Hill and Steve Smith. I don't draft guys expecting they will be an outlier.

I hope Denver spends their 1st on Mims.

ESPN's mock draft experts just announced that the Chiefs are likely to take D'Andre Swift from Georgia at 32. What we got on this guy other than he's a RB?

We have several needs. Do we really want to use our 1st round pick on an RB?

RDE, LB, CB, LG, C are all bigger needs.

Top 20 player IMO.

Good speed. Great feet and agility. Very shifty in the open field and is constantly juking guys out their cleats. Not a power guy, but he shows some contact balance. Good receiver out of the backfield.

I think he’s comparable to Kamara.

What about Kyle Dugger, S, Lenoir-Rhyne?

How is he comparable to the other safeties coming out?

Biggest problem with a 1st round RB is if they work out as well as you hope they're in line for a big extension in 4 years or so, and that's simply something we probably can't afford to do and shouldn't do at the position. 2-4 rounds, no big deal to spend a pick on a player who's here for the short term. But it's a no for me in round 1. I'd go BPA to a degree in Rd 1 and then take someone like Moss in 2 or 3.
