I'm kinda thinking Hardman was drafted to replace Watkins next year, but the Hill situation made it more important to trade up for him?

I completely agree. Although, Veach clearly will trade up anytime. I don't know if it was as much about Hill as it was the Jets.

Maybe - just maybe - Reid wasn't lying when he said Hardman had nothing to do with Hill.

He will replace Conley this year, sure.

If that goes well, it would allow you to move on from Watkins next year, or depending on the Hill situation, redo Sammy's deal and replace Hill.

The more this situation plays out, the more I'm beginning to believe this scenario is true. Replacing Watkins with a cheetah #2 is an absolute no-brainer move.
Plus, we all knew that Reid was going to get his candy in this draft and get it early.
