CBS sports online website article: Patrick Peterson to Chiefs "MAKES SENSE"

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/n...s-blockbuster/

3.Cardinals trade Patrick Peterson to the Chiefs
Chiefs get: Patrick Peterson
Cardinals get: 2020 first-round pick

Patrick Peterson won't come out and say it, but it kind of seems like he doesn't want to play for the Cardinals anymore. Just to give you a little refresher on the Peterson situation: The Cardinals corner demanded a trade back in October, only to apologize for making that demand a few months later, but the situation didn't end there, because now, it looks like he wants to be traded again. Peterson has removed the Cardinals name from all of his social media accounts and he's spent the past month taking passive-aggressive shots at the team. If you've ever watched literally any reality show involving a Millennial, those are usually the first two signs that a breakup is coming.

Peterson even posted a photo of some of his former teammates who are no longer with him in Arizona, and that photo had an interesting caption, "My boys told me to watch out for the snakes in the long grass!"

With a new Cardinals coaching staff now in place, it would make since for them to start fresh with players who actually want to be in Arizona. Clearly, Peterson isn't one of those players.

If the Cards start to shop Peterson, every team in the NFL should call them with an offer. Not only is he a three-time All-Pro corner, but he's also under contract for the next two seasons at the very reasonable rates of $11 million (2019) and $12.05 million (2020).

Although Peterson could get dealt anywhere, we're sending him to the Chiefs and that's because Kansas City has been doing everything possible to beef up a defensive unit that couldn't stop anyone while ranking 31st overall in the NFL last season. After watching his defense choke away the AFC title game, Andy Reid is clearly trying to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Not only have the Chiefs already traded for Frank Clark and Emmanuel Ogbah, but they've also signed Tyrann Mathieu, Alex Okafor and Damien Wilson. If the Chiefs were to add Peterson to the mix, the defense would be nearly as scary as their offense. Also, based on Peterson's Instagram picture, it seems Peterson would probably be pretty excited about the chance to reunite with Mathieu.

How wonderful of you to return( NOT )!

The last I heard, you were running off to join the Jimmy Fappenho fan club. No juice over there? Man, that's too bad. Welp, the Mahomes train is all full up over here, so I guess you better get on over to the nursing home and take of your first love Skippey McOne Leg of Gimpypenis Court.

Off you go now!

Rhodes wouldn't be a bad gamble assuming the compensation isn't absurd. His contract is very team friendly.

Just not sure there's much upside for Minny to trade him.

I’d try to wait the Cardinals out. It’s known that PP is pissed at them. Let the leverage swing our way when camp starts and the guy starts missing time in Arizona.

I would try to wait until mid season and see if we could swing a 3 for him. It could actually work out better for us if we traded our 3rd for him, then trade back in the draft to pick up a 3. Odds are the team we trade back with would have higher draft position than us anyway.

The point was that the village idiot called peterson over the hill but he has 2 years 23 million left and in the same post wants rhodes who is the same age and due twice as much...

I want the Chiefs to investigate as many options as possible instead of focusing in on one single option that doesn't look like it would be a very good investment for us beyond a couple of years if even that.

I feel like a 3 will never get it done for PP. Their GM seems to think he is worth a ton.

And then there is no way you can start the season with just Fuller/Breeland/Ward.

This could potentially ruin what looks like a nice defense.

I want to choose to look at as many options as possible , that's pretty much the whole point. Everyone has repeatedly said that Peterson is 29 heading to 30. That's what others have said, not anything that I ever said from the get-go.

the point is, we need more options and we've got plenty of time between now and mid-season to check them out. getting tunnel vision on one player in particular in a situation that could end up being a bad deal for the Chiefs is not good management.

and the fact that everything has gone dead quiet on that front for now is a good sign as far as I'm concerned.

I think coaching, LB and safety play was an enormous problem last year. We missed the Super Bowl by 1 play with one of the most godawful defenses in playoff history.

We’ve made significant upgrades in coaching, deep safety (Thornhill), the middle of the field (Lee, Honey Badger).

This defense looks much improved. No reason why this team isn’t the best in the conference, especially with Gronk gone and Brady/Edelman a year older.

This is true. I think some people are just overcompensating out of fear.

That's why you wait because PP now has ruined his brand to some degree and now the integrity factor is in play. IMHO, I think he took PEDs for his type II Diabetes that was diagnosed early on his career. Diabetes whether I or II can be a bitch to manage and you often feel sluggish.
