Cowboys are really in win now mode this year, I don't think they have much ability to create space next year at this point.

I don't know if this is Q, and IDGAF either way, so I don't even know why I typed that.

Rice doesn't look great in this video, as he drifts a little on breaks and drifts instead of sitting down in the zone, (Kelce usually looks crisp when he breaks off a route to sit in the zone, or just kinda looks crisp when he presents himself to the QB, and Rice doesn't look like that) and kinda looks like he doesn't really expect to get the ball at all.

I never said he was JJSS.

I will say I do NOT understand why Reid/Nagy have Skyy line up wide and Rice in the slot.

Skyy Moore probably isn't even an NFL slot receiver, but he sure AF shouldn't be lining up wide.

Rice is taller & bigger, and has much better acceleration, and once he cleans up his route running, or cleans up his footwork a little, he should absolutely be out wide.

Yeah that wasn't great but damn, give him some slants. Some drags. And did he only got 5 reps on passing plays in the 2nd half? What the hell? And 2-3 of them were as a blocker. What's going on?

What if Rice is just an avg football player? Mahomes props up every football player. Hardman and Juju were super useful here and immediately nobodies for their new team. Its certainly a possibility that if Rice was drafted somewhere else he wouldn't be very productive this early in his career

I said this last year, and I think some other people mentioned it as well, but I feel like JJSS played TE last year, and not WR. Yeah, he is a WR, but so many times when he made plays, they were in areas, or on routes usually taken by a backup TE.

I obviously have no clue, just like everyone else on this damn board, but it just seemed that way, or just felt like it, etc.

I think that's why Gray is getting a shitload of looks this year.

Rice was open a few times but he looked like he could put more effort into his routes. Hard to understand. Perhaps explains a few things too.

Who has Mahomes propped up, beyond Albert Wilson in that one game vs. Denver, who simply far exceeded expectations? Hardman was a great deep threat as a rookie but then just plateaued. Moore would be a shitty WR no matter where he was. Toney is full of unrealized potential. Guys like Robinson/Pringle were JAGs in KC and still are after leaving KC.

We’re talking about a rookie in a Reid offense on pace for 700-800 yards. That is damn good. He’s doing better than pretty much every rookie WR under Reid not named Jackson or Maclin. I refuse to believe he’s just some avg player. Is he Chase or Jefferson? Probably not but he doesn’t need to be.

Rice is a rookie that has played in 9 games... not a Hall of Fame player in his 10th year. Also, Travis improvises based on coverage- Travis doesn't always run the route that is called. Let's give the rookie a little more time to develop before we compare him to Hall of Fame players.
