2025 OL Prospect Thread
Alright guys, let’s have ourselves a 2025 OL Thread.
Current OL Questions: 1) We’ve invested in OL, what are your thoughts on their development path and potential roles next season? ...Kingsley, Morris, Humpries, Caliendo, & Nourzard. 2) Thuney’s holding it down at LT fairly well and getting paid big money, are you open to him playing there or moving him back to LG? For the playoffs & SB or next season? 3) Are you planning on picking up Jawan Taylor’s contract option in 2026 @ $27m cap hit? 2025 OL Draft Prospects: Depending on where you look we’ll get a chance to draft one of the following O-Lineman @ #32: Jones, Milum, Williams, Ersery, Simmons, Savaiinaea, Conley Jr or Booker. Some OL prospects that CP members have suggested for rounds 2-4 include Ratledge, Membou, Mbow, Jackson, Nelson, Brown, Colby, Belton, Fairchild & Zuhn, C Grant. Not much consistency in rankings or rounds for these prospects yet. 1) Would you take an O-Lineman in the first round or wait until later in the draft? 2) Who do you have your eye one? Why are they a good fit? Are they starters or projects? 3) Please add your own questions, comments, player draft profiles, links, videos etc for your favorite OL targets below! 2025 OL Prospect Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gHlP2QlHI8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8AN0RTUowQ ^How to embed videos in post? Every free agent class is a shit free agent class for OTs.
I mean lets go back about 10 years -- what plus FA OTS have even hit the market? Williams technically did but he clearly didn't want to leave SF. Terron Armstead. Orlando Brown. And then what? I mean the 4th best FA offensive tackle to have come available over the last decade may well be Kelvin ****ing Beachum. Maybe Charles Leno? Duane Brown? Quality LTs just don't hit the market. And if/when they do, they cost a LOT. They're not terribly dissimilar to QBs in that regard. If you can even find relatively young mediocrity on the FA market, you pay what it costs if it's a position of need for you. Or you keep plugging along and praying to get a little lucky.

Yeah it’s Cam Robinson and DJ Humphries. Those are our FA options really.
I was out in Robinson until I looked at the stats and analytics/film review guys on X attributing the majority of the sacks Darnold took on himself. You just can’t hold the ball for an average of 3.1 seconds a snap. I think the entire Vikings line got screwed by that. Cam Robinson at a fair price point wouldn’t be bad at all. He’s probably in the Thuney range of “productive and won’t ruin games for you” territory. As much as I’d want to draft a LT I just don’t see it. The Conerly kid is going top 20 and Simmons will likely too despite his injury (he said he’ll be ready by training camp). I don’t want the Chiefs to do a Mahomes like trade up for one of these guys.

There's nothing exciting about Robinson.
And frankly, we'll hate every minute of watching him be...fine...for $20 million/season. Unfortunately it may well be the best option available to us apart from doing what we did again this year. I'd rather get Humphry back on the Donovan Smith "low base+incentives" deal and I think that's PROBABLY the direction we go. But yeah, they're gonna call Robinson and see what he commands. And it's gonna be a lot. And we might just be the team that gives it to him.

I think the Chiefs are gonna let Robinson sit. They’ll wait on him and see if he’s available. If not I bet they pivot to DJ Humphries getting a full season to recover and be ready.
Just don’t see us paying Robinson that much
