Daniel Fells‘ MRSA infection is “far more serious than has originally been reported,” and the condition has been life-threatening at times, with doctors advising Fells that they might remove his foot in order to prevent the infection from spreading throughout his body, a source told Jason Cole of Bleacher Report (Oct. 12).

According to Cole’s source, Fells is doing well at this point in time. However, since Fells has already had parts of the foot removed, his NFL career is over.

Methicillin is a beta lactam that works via lysis of the bacterial cell well. MRSA is particularly hard to treat because a cleft where the active agent could attach is effectively blocked.

Triclosan is only bacteriostatic via inhibition of fatty acid synthesis. Once it is gone the bacteria resumes growing.

presuming the needle and vial are secure and sanitary, can fells be a host that carries this to other lockerooms prior to his level of infection.
