2015 Chiefs WR Core Worst in NFL?

There has been much talk this off season regarding the improvements to the much maligned 2014 KC wide receiver corps. The addition of Maclin and Avant (since Avant was a late season add last year) with the flash from Wilson toward the end of the season, the rebranding of DAT as a WR and the hope that Conley will be a player, many here see this as the best WR corps the Chiefs have had in some time.

It is - in my opinion - potentially the best WR corps Smith has ever played with in his 10 years in the league.

Yet, there is an article on Arrowhead Pride that lists Chiefs 2015 WR corps the worst in NFL.

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2015/6...rs-weakest-nfl

What say you? Are we (many of us anyway) just drinking the Kool-aid, or do the Chiefs have something going on the outside?

What's wrong with Arrowhead Pride? Just another place to find Chiefs info.

Outside of Maclin, its easy enough to admit we 're hoping for some people to step up... but worst in the league?

I sincerely doubt it.

Wilson didnt just flash here and there, he put together a nice body of work the last 4-5 games.

Conley has every measurable you could want and the intelligence to back it up, he's a fairly safe bet.

Thomas may be gadgety but he's already a proven performer and will prove to be a special gadget.

Rogers has everything you want physically, but yeah we're hoping for coaching and maturity to take effect there.

Avant... just dont care how slow he is, he knows how to find the open spot, he clicked/produced immediately last year.

Hemingway is just a guy, but he's atleast depth caliber NFL material.

Other guys like whoever, Hammond, Brown etc... who knows.

But that list of guys, along with the tight ends? Thats a great mix of size and speed... if Smith cant produce with that, then he needs to go.

They weren't the worst last year, they certainly aren't this year.

But the Alex Smith nuthuggers over at AP have to have some built in excuses, so...

Exactly. It isn't loaded Madden style so they think it's not enough.

While i agree in theory, it's really not that cut and dry.

We will be able to tell for the most part

Is the Oline holding it's own?
Are the receivers holding on to the ball?
Are the passes off-target?
WRs running around wide open?

None of these things were really happening last year.

fyi - in 5 games Avant had 13 rec/153 yrds ... hardly what would call clicking/producing. Just sayin'

It's dumb. People always make these claims without looking at other rosters. There are some REALLY bad groups out there.

IIRC, he didnt get much if any action his first two weeks in, but did some nice work vs the fade, steelers and chargers... didnt Smiths longest pass of the year go to him for 41 against pittsburgh?

Not trying to oversell the guy, but I sure dont depise what he brings either... he's a guy that knows what the heck he's supposed to be doing out there and rarely drops one.

He'll be around for 2015 and thats a good thing... we need an old steady freddy just like him right now.

Yep. It's not like a QB should be so lucky as to have an OL and WR corps above bottom 5 in the league or anything.

Schmuck.

And don't forget; the O-line isn't composed of a one-way plasma field which would allow Alex to send the ball out, but nothing could get in.

So there's that, too.

Memory could be off... but I thought early on, Bowe had some vision issues, and had to have cataract surgery.

So having 0 TDs throughout 16 games over the course of a season doesn't make the Chiefs WRs the worst in the league?

OK

Actually, that ranking came from NFL.com, original article:

The Chiefs knew they needed to add talent, and paid Jeremy Maclin like a superstar. He's a solid starter, but not a game changer. He never topped 1,000 yards until Chip Kelly hit town. Albert Wilson has a chance to emerge as the No. 2 receiver, but it's a wildly unproven group after Maclin.

Yeah, any QB worth his salt would light up the league with a bottom 3 OL combined with a bottom 5 receiving core.
