Let's Talk About the Eagles (Super Bowl 59 Discussion)

We're headed back to the Ship and will try to be the first team to 3-peat in Super Bowl history!!! Chiefs open up as 1.5 favorites over the Eagles.

Discuss.

and don't forget...

Watson coming back is huge.

That said, the secondary can still be exploited because one of Cook, Johnson/Connor will be out there on most snaps. If the Eagles want, they can pick on those players. The Bills had repeated success converting 3rd and long down the middle of the field. Hurts isn't Josh Allen, but he's not a bum either. They have weapons in the passing game. If I'm the Eagles, I'm isolating the Chiefs LBs and Cook in coverage as much as possible.

The Eagles top weapons are great, but it’s all JAGs after that.

It’s a very top heavy group, which is probably good since our DBs are top heavy as well.

Goedert is the concern. Because if you go by snap counts, it sets up for him to be covered potentially by Conner a lot.

We need to avoid that. Let Reid and/or Hicks do more there.

One of Cook, Nazeeh, or Conner does not have to be out there, ready to be exploited.

It is Spag’s decisions, point blank.

We have McDuffie, Watson and Williams at CB. Justin Reid and Hicks at Safeties. Even Roland-Wallace at nickel, if they go that route.

Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel didn't do much in the regular season but made key 3rd and long and 4th and long conversions during breakdowns in coverage. Cook gave Hollins too much space on a 3rd and long during Buffalo's last TD drive, and Tranquill let Samuel run free on the 4th down TD.

It's also true that the Eagles have no WRs of any kind besides Brown/Smith. I'm hoping Goedert gets a lot of attention from Spags because he's capable of getting lost in the secondary with so much focus on stopping the run and containing their WRs.

Yeah, I'd like to see Hicks take Cook's place and Williams take Connor/Johnson's snaps. Hicks is at least more athletic than Cook, which you need against these weapons.

Connor should get more snaps at safety next year, especially if Reid doesn't return. Wasn't that his college position?

You’re also talking about Josh Allen taking the time to work through his reads and find the open guys vs Jalen Hurts doing the same.

Jalen Hurts was sacked almost 40 times this year (more than Mahomes in fewer games). I don’t think that’s reflective of his OL either.

If he’s forced to work for it, he tends to **** it up.

People need to stop including Williams in these discussions. In the two playoff games he has as many snaps on defense as you or I do.

True. Allen was hardly sacked all year. I don't think we got him once either. Hurts does hold the ball too long.

The last SB meeting had no sacks, despite both teams leading the league during the regular season. A lot of that was because of the field conditions though.

I guess my point was that on that play, 3 defenders (or was it 4?) went to the middle with Kelce while Rice ran free across the short filed for an easy TD.

I think our WRs are a little better than Kadarious Toney and Skye Moore.

He's in the doghouse for whatever reason. Which is strange considering he has more experience than both Johnson and Connor combined playing CB in big games. He hasn't sucked when called upon this year either.

Spags will have the best plan he can make. Up to the players to execute it.

Was't it Brady who said during the NFCCG that Hurts tends to get in trouble if he holds onto the ball too long?

Chiefs sacked Allen twice.

I remember Danna’s strip.

Wharton was also credited with 1, but I don’t recall it. Must’ve been a scramble that got stopped short of the line or something.

Chiefs hit Allen 8 times though. That’ll equal more than 2 “sacks” against Hurts.
