Let's Talk About the Eagles (Super Bowl 59 Discussion)

We're headed back to the Ship and will try to be the first team to 3-peat in Super Bowl history!!! Chiefs open up as 1.5 favorites over the Eagles.

Discuss.

and don't forget...

But it appears that I was wrong about Baun. Apparently he is PFF’s best coverage backer.

I still think he’s not gonna shut down Kelce. Andy puts LB’s in hell and he’s not exactly a speed guy out there.
I SWEAR I saw something yesterday about the performance of players targeted when Baun was the closest defender and it being the worst grade of any LB in the playoffs.

Maybe it was playoffs only, which would make sense considering how the Rams and Commanders TE groups found success.

Saints interviewing Kellen Moore for HC...hope that discussions drag out into the week and distract him from preparing for the SB

There's a couple unique factors that are going to impact both teams mentally IMHO.

1) Eagles losing to us already in a Super Bowl, even more recent than SF had. To me it leads guys to be a little more tight. I think it showed with SF, they almost expect things to go wrong moreso than a team may who hasn't seen this version of Kansas City before on a big stage. (see Buffalo too)

2) The stakes of the threepeat. I mean, we know Mahomes, Kelce, Jones are going to be laser focused down to down. But what about everyone else? You put in 364 days of work all to get back here and it was visibly obvious Sunday night that yes, they've been waiting for a game to really care about all year. Well, here's the last one.

I don't see our guys letting this moment get away. TRULY ONCE IN A LIFETIME. There will be no second chances and no first chances for any other football player in the world right now. This is not happening again in our lives.

Even while I respect Philly's roster a lot, I think the Chiefs running away with this thing like 28-13 is more likely than them losing.

Even if it doesn't drag out, as long as they hire him, he isn't going to be in the right headspace.

You're going to be thinking about improving the team that you are head coach of, and that's just human nature.

It was more the pass. He played that SB (outside of the fumble) about as perfect as one could play it. I just don't see him having another game like that from a passing perspective.

Another reason the defense struggled some was because of how young it was. There were a lot of rookies playing that game on the defense.

Funny seeing all these Eagle fans telling Bills fans they were pulling for them.

Of course they were.

There's something to be said for not being super familiar with Kelce's game, and I am going to guess Baun has never really covered him. It's a 1-of-1 approach to the game.

I know he isn't prime Kelce, but you just can't replicate his movements.

Just seeing some of the highlights of Cook in the AFCCG, Justin Reid had a difficult night along with Nazeeh Johnson in the run game....we need to tighten things up against Barkley.

Has New Orleans hosted a Super Bowl since that power outage debacle in January 2013?

Not looking forward to a one hour halftime show.
