It does work both ways, but there is no stat more strongly correlated with wins than turnover ratio.

Smith has owned the Raiders and SD...as far as Pittsburgh, the defense was completely out of sync. That wasn't all on Smith...they allowed 22 1st quarter points.

When you have a defense with an identity for creating more turnovers than any other team in the league, why not have a guy on offense who takes care of the ball?

It's a perfect combination, and it's why we are 16-3 since last year.

Foles came in and the offense was fun again. Offense isn't fun with Smith. I'm ****ing stoked for this game. Not because I think Foles is elite, but because he elevates the offense and can attack a defense vertically and isn't going to play scared and hesitant.

You think Foles is going to have time to go deep in that game consistently? You might have 1-2 chances the entire game.

You have to take care of the football and move the chains against good teams and good defenses. We don't get to play dreadful pass rushes and secondaries like the Colts every week.
Nick Foles against top 10 defenses (yards or points) in 2013 and 2014:

W 36-21

W 24-21

L 21-26

L 20-24

W 31-21

8 TD/5 INT

As long as he's surrounded by a decent team, Foles is going to be just fine against good defenses.

Also:

Nick Foles against teams that score 24+: 4-13

Ain't great, but from where I'm sitting it's a whole lot better than 4-37-1.

Pete Carroll, BB, harbaughs, Denver.... Deep runs relying on the strength of the defense and using the offense to focus on the mistakes of opposing defenses. Not exactly exciting football but it brings in wins.

How the numbskulls haven't figured this out is beyond me...
