Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I am probably going to buy a .22 pistol next, I have been checking out the Taurus TX22 as it has very good reviews. The main reason it is likely next is the AR market is inflated right now and I am the only person in my grand kid's lives that is going to show and teach them anything about guns. I took them to the range a month ago and they of course loved the little 10-22. They both hated my 9mm. It was the first time they had shot a handgun. I feel like for fun and teaching purposes that would be a great purchase. After that yes probably a 5.56.

I bought this one back when they were $700.
That thing looks bad ass. I am afraid of this ordering online and having it sent to a local FFL.

Ruger Mark IV is probably one of the best 22 pistols you can buy. They also make a 22/45 version that is one of my personal favorites.

I order most of my guns online. Just send it to your favorite gun shop as long as their FFL fees aren't crazy. They shouldn't charge more than $25.

Definitely try to keep with a reputable website. There are fake sites out there so Google the reviews on them before putting any info in. Tombstone Tatical is one that I trust and have always had good service.

I also use gun deals website a lot to find the best price of the gun that I want.

Talk to the FFL dealer first. But they all do it. He might be a little fussy if he has one in stock and you're buying a cheaper option, but do some business there and they probably won't care. Mine charges $30.

I’m kind of in love with the platform. If you want a 308 I’d get an AR10.

I have a little 8” 9MM on an AR platform that takes Glock magazines that is probably my favorite gun to shoot.

Probably start with an AR 15. Palmetto State Armory has solid really affordable rigs.

If I were starting from scratch I’d probably get an AR 15 with a 10.5” barrel and a pistol brace and then work on getting a tax stamp for a SBR.

That’s what I really want but it’s hard to go that direction when I already have a 556 in 16”. And by that I mean it’s hard to convince the wife.

Can you use bass pro gift cards at cabelas and vice versa? I got a few from Inlaws for both stores for Christmas and don't know what to do with em.

I'm guessing my parents will get me a couple hundred dollars more and they'd make a nice down payment on a new handgun.

I think so. I learned all the rules about gift cards when I did an audit a million years ago, which I promptly forgot, but I think so. All depends on what they did after the buyout, but I'd sure try it.

Can you imagine how much money the ammo manufacturers are making these days? I'm sure the price of materials has gone up for them, no doubt, but the profits for these people must be through the roof.

Nope. Can't wrap my head around numbers that big.

I can't remember if it was before or after the summer riots, but I heard at some point that there were 9 million new gun owners over the last year. As in people that didn't own a gun that now do. Not guns sold.

That's a LOT. If there are 350 million people in the country, that's 2.5% of the entire population that entered the market. **** that's a lot. So if they are responsible gun owners and training with those firearms, wow. That's a lot of hot lead. Just round numbers, say half of those 9 million stick them in the safe, the other half run 100 rounds a year through them. That's 450 million bullets that weren't even in the firearms market in 2019. And you'd think those numbers are pretty conservative. You know there are some fools that like it and dump 1000 rounds a year.

Some of our own posters are sitting on a goldmine. I wish I had bought 500,000 rounds of things like 30-06, .308, 30-30, .270, and .243 (not very controversial rounds actually), I could be selling them off at crazy prices. Not only because the prices is crazy, but because I'd be the only person around selling them. And that's just so people can hunt deer...

Tee coin to be made on .223, 9mm, and 45ACP would be a special form of crazy...

And I'm still not convinced that the lack of ammo is totally innocent, but that's irrelevant. Here are some articles...

I've got a decent stockpile and access to plenty more thanks to reloading. But even if I had a shit ton of ammo, I'd be reluctant to sell any. If, or I guess I should say when, the shit hits the fan, you can't load cash into your guns.
