I just worry about what happens as more players buy into this sentiment. If they believe that Mahomes is toying with them and abusing the rules, I fear someone will take an Al-Shaair cheap shot believing they are on the side of righteous indignant league-wide fury.

It's the NFL - that's always a risk.

You don't mess with a man's money though. That's an unwritten rule. You do that shit on purpose and you'll end up on the losing end.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Or, if they get the chance to take a shot at Mahomes like Giants DE Leonard Marshall laid on Joe Montana in the 1990 NFCCG -- they are going to do it, and we just have to hope that no such opportunity presents itself.

So, when Chris Jones had the phantom roughing call against Brady back in 2018, where he didn't even touch Brady's helmet but they said he did...are we willing to admit that perhaps, maybe, the refs see things in real time from an angle we will never have, and sometimes they get it wrong? It happens all the time. We've pulled our hair out over many BS calls against the Chiefs too.

I mean, the call for UR on Mahomes on the slide...when it happened live you heard a huge audible CRACK of helmets hitting...add to that he was already going down (and did get hit in the head, albeit a glancing blow), the nearest ref heard that, saw them going in low, and threw the flag. Maybe an iffy call, but the right one at that moment.

Same with the roughing call. The ref was right behind Mahomes, saw the guy go in high in his face and saw the head jerk back...that's a flag. Like it or not.

Maybe the refs are not evil or in the bag for a certain team or outcome...maybe they're just human and **** up sometimes...

Regarding the UR I keep hearing people bitching about what is the defender(s) supposed to do? How about stay on your feet and stay under control. Just saw Rams guys do exactly that when Hurt slid.

Mixon comes from the whiniest fan base so it’s no surprise the Texans are chirping. Have to wonder if they walked in with this mentality to play victim before the game even started

Absolutely not, back then it was definitely rigged against us but there’s no way it can possibly be rigged for us now.

In all seriousness, when teams win as much as us or the Patriots in the past, this is just what happens. Every team gets shitty calls for and against them every game, but when you win 85% of the time it starts to look suspicious on the surface.

Also, I want to make it clear I’ve yet to see a call the Chiefs supposedly got over the last 3 years that wasn’t legit. Not one single person can point one out. Every single one of them was a by the book call. When Mahomes starts getting penalties for peoples hands coming close to his helmet, then we can talk. Until then, these nut jobs need to . This shit is out of control.

It's time to put an end to the myth that NFL officials help the Kansas City Chiefs win football games.*

1. Referees help the Chiefs with calls: Since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starting QB in 2018, the Chiefs have been called for 846 more penalty yards, against them, than their opponents. That's the 3rd worst differential of any team in the NFL. In fact, the zebras have been making life hard for the Chiefs.

Offensive drives turn into touchdowns at a 22% pace, league wide. Since 2018, the Chiefs have been called for offensive holding 196 times. The reason that this is important is that when a team is called for an offensive penalty during that drive, the touchdown rate falls from 22% to 14%. So, not only are the Chiefs victims of the most offensive holding calls, they've managed to overcome those penalties with a top rated offense.

2. Patrick Mahomes gets a beneficial flag any time he is touched: Since 2018, Patrick Mahomes has played in 112 games and has dropped back to pass more than 4,100 times. Of those 4,100+ drop backs, there have been a total of 30 roughing the passer flags. That's 16th of any QB who's played in the NFL sine 2009. Do the math.

3. The Chiefs always get the calls in crucial situations: Be it 3rd and long or 4th and medium, those big plays when it matters most, the conspiracy theory is that the officials go out of their way to help the Chiefs in those moments. On plays of 3rd and 10 or longer, or 4th and 5 or longer, the Chiefs have just 2 penalties, for the entire season, that were in their favor. That's 15th in the NFL. Let's add to that, this little factoid. When looking at penalties in the second half, in 1 score games in 2024, no team has had more flags thrown against them than the Chiefs.

This whole narrative that the officials always help the Chiefs is just plain garbage.

* statistical data is pre-post season.
