Buffalo Bills Dalton Kincaid's attempted catch not as easy as represented.

When we all saw the many replays of Kincaid not making the catch on that crazy Josh Allen pass, we equated it to the Raven's Mark Andrews drop and nothing could be farther from the truth.

Last night, no highlights really captured what happened.

Today on NFL live, the play was shown from above and it was incredibly difficult based on what happened.

Kincaid was running downfield angling towards the sidelines in a northeast direction from the line of scrimmage. As the play quickly broke down, Kincaid jammed on the breaks and in a split second surrounded by 4 Chief's defenders made a 180° turn in the opposite direction to try and catch the ball. He had almost no time to make the decision but by going back in a southwest direction, his angle to the ball was now too far forward and the ball traveled just a little further than his arms.

Was the ball catchable? Yes
Was it an easy diving catch? Hell no

Seeing the play from a drone view directly above really provided the best perspective. The ground view was too simplistic.

Thank God he was slightly off.....

There was a pass similar trajectory in the ravens game where mahomes threw back to kelce and kelce made the catch to convert

I haven't found a gif or video of it yet though

It wasn’t easy but you need to catch that football if you’re an elite pass catcher (which Kincaid is)

IE - would Kelce have sat in the soft spot in that same situation?

If Kincaid did slow down instead of continuing to barrel towards the sideline, the catch would have been easy. He also adjusted to the ball super late.
You make a great point. This is another angle from the one I saw on NFL Live and I can't find their replay yet.

What I notice here is Kincaid jammed on the brakes, slid a little bit in the grass, tried to judge a very high thrown jump ball and his guess on angle was slightly off as well as the ball looked liked it started to drift left at the end.

That angle makes it look even harder!

If it was the end of the game, absolutely.

The Bills trying to figure out Spags’s blitz is like the Battle of Wits from the Princess Bride.

Noah Gray would have caught it and scored. That's the difference between Super Bowl champions and teams that lose in the playoffs.

Welp the good news for Bills fans is Wally World's annual close-out sale on folding camping tables will soon happen. It's time to stock up for next year.
