Philadelphia Trip Suggestions

I'm being sent, somewhat reluctantly, to Philadelphia next week on business. I'll be there for a couple of days.

I'm staying on Market Street in Downtown, Rittenhouse Square area. I know I would like to see Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell etc. Those appear to be within walking distance of the hotel.

Any suggestions for a Cheese Steak around that area? Anything else to do? I'll be fairly busy, but I'll have late afternoons and evenings free.

Thx in advance.

I agree with Dole on the Mutter museum if you are into medicine and oddities.

As for Reading terminal, Dinics has a good sandwich, but check out the “train wreck “ at Becks.

Why bother with Yuengling? Drink good beer. Also familiarize yourself with the term "jawn"

Also, I did a walking tour, which was a lot of fun and educational.

I know pats and genos got shit on a little here. But the experience of going to the original in that location is still pretty cool. But yeah if you're purely craving the best tasting cheese steak there's better out there.

I just went on a day trip to Philly a few weeks ago with the girlfriend and kids.

Absolutely do the terminal Market. Food is amazing. I had a cheesesteak from Carmens and it was good.

Highly recommend the Observation Deck. https://phillyfromthetop.com/tickets.html
We did the Observation desk at the Rockerfeller center in NY...The philly one is better.

I want to go see the Eastern State Penitentiary. It's one of the most haunted cool prisons in the country.

Obvious the Rocky Statue and Art museum steps....Great photos from the top.

Big Charlie's Saloon is a Chiefs Bar. Visit and tell them you're from KC. You'll get treated like royalty and they'll show you the Chiefs room in the back. It's awesome.

the museum of the American revolution is very good, after your have done the other historic sights. also the Barnes Foundation is a really great museum if you are into that. do the tour. it is different from any other museum I have ever been to. finally if you have a car , the tour of Valley Forge is cool, weather permitting

Yuengling is an OK lager if you like lagers.
Victory Brewing and Troegs make some outstanding beers. I'm sure there are a lot of other small breweries there as well.

Scrapple is something I think you have to grow up with to appreciate. I didn't.

Go to Reading Terminal Market and get a roast pork sandwich at Dinic's. Also pick up some homemade chocolate and fudge at Mueller Chocolate Co.

If you want a cheesesteak go to either Tony Lukes, John's or Dellasandro's. All three are great.
