Just When You Thought The College Season Couldn't Get Any More Bizzare

If OU advances to the BCS title game and defeats the SEC champion AND Texas goes to the Fiesta Bowl and defeats it's opponent, could we have two National Champions from the same division of one conference? OU wins the BCS title and Texas gets the AP crown?

That illogical jump would be corrected with a Florida win at Alabama. Florida is already ahead in the Harris poll and their computer ranking would get a huge boost with a victory over #1 Alabama.
Well, I think that's what you are hoping will happen, but saying its not going to isn't facing the reality of the possibility. This is from the ESPN Big 12 Blog:

Jason from Lincoln, Neb. writes: Both Texas and Oklahoma have excellent arguments not only for the Big 12 title but for the national championship. If I were a Texas fan, I would not be rooting for Missouri, but instead would be rooting for Florida to beat Alabama in an ugly game. If you take a close look at the BCS standings, you will find that Florida is already ahead of Texas in the Harris poll and will not likely extend that margin by a lot with a win this weekend. Also, the USA today poll is fairly close and no one-loss team is going to dominate that poll...so it comes down to computer rankings. With the SEC in somewhat of a slump this year (LSU with five losses, Georgia with three losses, and Florida losing to a four-loss team), I don't expect Florida's computer ranking to come anywhere near what Texas has accomplished this season. What do you think?

Tim Griffin: Jason, I agree with you. I think the Longhorns' best chance at playing in the BCS title game would be if Florida does win out in an ugly game over Alabama, which I think the Crimson Tide's strong defense and kicking game could be able to force. So it will certainly be interesting to watch.
I know flat out denial is a coping mechanism but this is a very real possibility. Couple that with the fact that the regular season contest between OU and Texas was a highly entertaining game and the plot line to "really decide the issue on the field" between these two might not prompt as many voters to switch their opinions as you theorize. Its not like Texas doesn't command its own pull in the BCS world. Additionally, such a "swing" in votes might cast further disgust upon the system. People would argue it no longer matters, as long as you are near the top, the voters will "place" into the championship game whomever they want. I don't buy your brush off that this isn't concerning you just a tiny bit.

No, it doesn't concern me at all and it's not a very real possibility. Florida has been down in the computer polls all year. They are still 6th overall in the computer rankings. Texas does not play this week so Florida already has that advantage if they win. Additionally, Alabama has 2 #1 computer rankings and a #3. A Florida win over Bama will help their computer ranking tremendously. Florida was ahead of Texas prior to last week when Texas jumped them in the coaches poll (only because of the OU/UT thing). That will be reversed and Florida will be #2 at worst if they're SEC Champs. People wont opt for OU/UT because IT ALREADY HAPPENED just like they didn't opt for OSU/UM in 2006.
