There’s no f’ing way Josh gets that ball to Shakir. He had about half a second to throw the ball before getting blown up and Shakir was probably the third read on the play.

Insane play by Karlaftis to almost tip the ball, then still recover and make a possible TD-saving tackle.

This play call was really bizarre and a lot of us in the GDT said it at the time. It’s third and 10 with Josh Allen and you make a lateral throw on a WR screen? Very strange play call in that situation and good on Karlaftis to break it up.

On edit: Finally bothered to watch the breakdown and saw the point of the post — it actually came pretty close to working.

The ENTIRE point to that blitz was to blow up that orbit motion without actually covering it. You can see McDuffie react to it -- the Chiefs didn't miss it, they simply knew they had the play-call made that would force Allen to make a decision before he could get back to it.

If the blitz doesn't get home, we're boned. But that's the nature of a blitz there.

We never covered Shakir because we never intended to. The entire plan was to leave him uncovered and simply get Allen's eyes off him with the pressure.

The only mistake anyone made there was Cook not getting his depth because he followed Hollins too long underneath (I think that was Hollins anyway) even while Hollins had a route that was taking him right to Bolton and Hicks. (EDIT: That was Cooper)

If that ball gets caught, it's ENTIRELY on Cook for cheating up for no real reason.

Cook was roasted ass in game that. I agree....we need to draft a true free safety with speed and range. A ballhawk type.

I can't believe that clown is criticizing Allen for that play. He's one of the only QBs in the league who could have even made the throw he did make under that kind of pressure. Kincaid was also open, it was there and the guy just dropped it.

Torrence is a huge reason they kept trying to QB sneak left, he was to slow to block Jones.

Yep. I thought Spags was bad the 2nd half……until literally the most important possession of the game and then he just unleashed. Like a movie when the hero is getting their ass kicked and then they land a crushing kill shot at the final moment.

Just goes to show that the RB mesh play to Perine was such a brilliant playcall.

it wasn't a terribly playcall.

Allen slides protection and it's not at all a 'slow developing' play. He has Shakir on the orbit and Johnson on an underneath drag -- both plays open and would've been easy 1st downs.

Play call was fine - his QB didn't read the defense right.

It's really that simple, IMO.
