The years the Chiefs have won the SB has been the years they have their best defenses of this regime's tenure and the other years they haven't.

Yeah. We didn't start winning Super Bowls (or even went to a Super Bowl) without Spags reinventing the defense. A top-3 offense isn't a hard requirement. It helps, but its not required.

Except it is because we know that late in games our best weapon is mahomes with the ball in his hands. Our defense as great as they’ve been… they shouldn’t be carrying the offense into the late 4th quarter. I would rather have our offense carry a defense than to shoot for balance where they give/take.

Our offense at its best can be immune to bad games. It is way harder for our defense to avoid bad games especially in the playoffs where even against great defenses good QBs will have games where they play out of their minds. So yeah, we will be fine, but I disagree with O.City’s idea that we build greatness everywhere and then use the leftover pieces to build up our passing game. I think our top motivation is to build up the best possible passing game (within reason) so that you need way less of the defense.

I'm curious where I've made that my idea?

The goal is to have as well rounded of a team as you can. Not "build this" or "Build that". We've literally seen them put the best passing game in the league out there and not win with it, so they had to go build the defense to get stops. That best passing game in the league, got shutout for an entire half in the playoffs.

It was also built when the QB didn't cost 55 million dollars a year.

Cmon now… just because the stats say we are a top 5 offense doesn’t mean we’re playing like one. Be an optimist all you want but let’s not sugarcoat that our pass offense right now has not been very good. Let alone the greatness standard we expect from a mahomes and Reid led offense

Advanced stats say they are. Regular stats say they are.

They aren't an all time great offense. If that's your expectation, well, that's a you problem.

Mecole isn't going to replace MVS

He was still here a year ago and they went out of their way to sign MVS because they had little trust in Hardman.

They can save too much money by cutting MVS in the offseason to keep him around to pull coverages.

Bingo. Even when not at the 'greatness standard,' we're still ranking as a top-5 offense. You have helped prove the point!

The 2019 Patriots offense was quite good - top 5 in most major categories. But it wasn't the death star it was in 2012. Instead they relied on a dependable, more workmanlike offense and an opportunistic defense that could get the stops when they needed to. Oh, and help from the officials.

And they won a championship.

This isn't the 2018/2019 Chiefs offense but fellas it doesn't need to be. Teams evolve and GREAT teams evolve in ways where they are still finding ways to win ballgames.

Most teams don't look functionally similar to a team that came 3 years before it, let along 4 or 5. And this one shouldn't be expected to either.

Would I like us to be a 32 pt/gm team? Yeah - but that just wasn't ever realistic. We had to make decisions with the roster as the team evolved. Most of 'em have been pretty damn good ones.
