That said, I'm paid reasonably well for my occupation, and I live comfortably if not luxuriously. If you're living paycheck to paycheck, that's a different situation. |

And that's not even speaking to the fabulous amounts of money they'll never spend. Or the fact that cost of living means little to them as they can afford to live wherever they want. No, it's the asset value of being a star in a city. The fact that there are likely to be short and long-term financial benefits to staying in KC that aren't going to be there for him if he switches teams. Stay here and you'll make SOME of that back. Not all of it, mind you, but a nice chunk in all probability. And that kind of goodwill is perpetual - it'll yield financial benefits for him after he retires. That's not to say that should wholly close the gap, but it is something worth considering if you're Jones. He won't. Or at least he didn't. But he probably should.

Remains to be seen if he is really serious about staying in KC. 99% of DTs take the $$ and run BUT IF Jones is serious about winning more SBs and continue his HOF legacy run he might stay just because those 99% of DTs never had PMII as their QB. Will be interesting for sure and I hope he stays.

And that DOES have clear monetary value. That said, we win against SF and he has 3 rings, that may be enough on its own.

The guy finished the regular season as the best interior pass rusher in the entire league again and has firmly nudged past Donald as best DT in the league.

Yes, I would love to see Jones take a team/vet friendly deal and retire a Chief, but hold out and past actions indicate that is unlikely. Given all the talent on this team, I do think it is better to let talent go a year or two early than take too big of chance of keeping a really expensive player a year or two long. I'll guess we'll see what BV thinks soon enough.

Let’s hope he will sign a team friendly deal even though he wouldn’t last year. Maybe the chances for a three Pete will make a difference. If that fails we need to find a team that will pay the higher price if we tag and trade him and do that before we do the tag. If we can’t do either, I guess we have to just let him go. And he has certainly been a major asset while we have had him. The most important thing is it we not let this linger and fester like it did last year. Everything needs to be finalized before the draft as it will be a major factor in our draft strategy.

No sack for Jones in seven games now. Praying Omenihu can inspire the rest of the guys on the D-line.

The only silver lining with Jones is that he is being double teamed at the highest rate in the league this year. The bad thing is no one else can capitalize on that which then let's the offense commit to stopping Jones as hard as they want to. Then Jones gets frustrated and starts playing outside of the scheme to make something happen which in turn wrecks the rest of the defense. We desperately need someone who can take advantage of the 1 on 1s they get
