Honestly, I really wish he'd get some run against a stout front. If you're really interested in knowing if he's a possible improvement on Smith, you have to play him against the caliber of defenses he'll have to perform against to be successful.

Kicking the shit out of the Jags won't tell us much. Like I said, I think these kinds of teams are 'get fat' games and they're right in the wheelhouse of an aggressive quarterback. I expect something in the neighborhood of 22/32 for 275 yards and 2 TDs.
I pretty much agree with all parts of this.

And if he goes something like 19/26 for 205 and 1 TD, that still won't tell us if he's better than Alex or not, since that's what you'd expect from Alex Smith.

If Foles doesn't turn the ball over he'll be equally as effective as Alex.

This site should be split into 2:

1. people who watch football for the sake of football.

2. people who play Madden and Fantasy football.

The 2 don't mix and are completely separate realities.

Another way of putting it, adults and children.

that is all

Agreed.

About the only thing he could do that would color my outlook much either way is just go complete reerun and chuck 3 interceptions to a defense that's looking to roll over and die.

That's why I say I'd rather see him facing at least an average defense. I think this is pretty much like fighting a crippled kid - best case scenario is you beat up a gimp and there's still a chance that you trip over your dick somehow and get beat up by an invalid.

If Smith had played this game you'd probably be looking at 18/26 for 225 yards and a TD. And in the end, I just don't give much of a shit either way; this just isn't any kind of measuring stick game.

Oh boy, you got me!

Guess Andy, Alex or any player traded to this team cant be a chief fan either, what a tool and you just proved my point about adults/children.

The Jags defense isn't nearly as bad as people think.

13th in yards allowed
8th least passing yards allowed
8th in net yards gained per pass attempt
5.2 yards per play (less than the Chiefs)
18th overall DVOA
13th overall DVOA vs the pass

This isn't New Orleans or Indy.
