Clark Hunt Statement

"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

Hard to trust a guy to hire the new HC when he can't fire the incompetent old GM.

Kahn might be a good GM for whoever the full-control head coach is going to be.

Hunt sees the best side of Pioli every single time.

We know the truth. And if Hunt lived in KC and was exposed to this more frequently, he'd know it, too.

One thing that I've seen among people in leadership positions is that some people are very adept at presenting two faces: one to the people above them, and another to the people below them. I'm not saying this is the case with Pioli, but it's not uncommon.

I know a county administrator at a large metro county in north Denver who is the biggest pile of feces in the world. He's incompetent, unethical, and dishonest, and if he thinks you're below him in the social pyramid, he's a major ass. But to the people above him, he's very gracious and polite and nice, and he will do anything they want. So they keep him around. I think it's actually somewhat psychopathic behavior.

I am as down on Clark as most anyone around here but this isn't really putting me over the edge quite yet. Mostly because shit like this can be complicated. I bet there are some money issues being worked out w\ the Pioli situation but he released the news on RC because another day or more time with him being silent would have been quite bad.

Who knows though...

We will see. Just feel like there are a ton of variables.

I'm just talking out loud and this idea could be really stupid. But is it possible that hunt could keep pioli in the same role but strip him of all responsibility so pioli can ride out the last year of his contract? Either that, or that would force pioli to resign, which he could very well do because he's too prideful? Or that could be a tactic to encourage pioli to negotiate his buyout down because you're right, this is like prison to an egotistical prick like pioli.

That wouldn't be unusual. We all know kuharich was calling the shots the last year of peterson. We saw holmgren serve as a lame duck personnel guy until he eventually "retired."

It's like leaking Tyson Jackson 5 days before the draft. Day 1 was outrage, day 3 was acceptance and day 5 people were talking about his flashes on youtube.
