Maybe part of his "trauma" was being told he wasn't ever going to suit up for the Chiefs again? It's hard to tell what all went on there but I don't really fault anyone. He's gone and that is good.

Pretty clear that extra money gave them more to work with, thus the renewed negotiations. Cosmi’s deal you mentioned is 18.5 APY. Well, with inflation the value of Cosmi’s deal is now equivalent to Lindstrom’s deal he received.

Of course he will likely get $22 million APY if he sets the market. But again a lot of these contracts are fluff and we need to see the structure.

Either way, Taylor Swift reportedly added a billion dollars of value to the NFL this year, so in a way Taylor might be the reason they keep Trey Smith. Funny how life works.

Naw, not really. Setting aside what Wright would've been able to do with the opportunity here (and an evidently elite guard to run behind in Trey Smith), there were obvious issues with this RB room even WITH a healthy Pacheco.

But like I said, I think Cosmi (and DEFINITELY Lindstrom) are better than Smith.

I wouldn't offer him an inflation adjusted deal. Because I'd rather have both of those guys.

I'd be willing to offer him Cosmi's deal. And like I said, even THAT would be an overpay, IMO. But it's close enough to Creed's deal that I've made a solid effort and should he say yes, I can tolerate it.

I still think it would be a mistake, but it's absolutely as far as I'd go.

Because again, EVERYONE has all that found cap space and we work in a zero sum market when it comes to free agency. So just burning it on a player because you have it doesn't make sense when there are OTHER players it can easily be used on.

No, I mean people were fine with Pacheco as the starter, and once they added Perine, they were mostly fine with the depth. That doesn't mean upgrades weeent desired, but most saw this running g and being completely unable to have an explosive runs whatsoever.

Pacheco is a fine starter who can break off explosive runs and force broken tackles. It pissed me off that people were on him bc he was clearly that guy vs the Ravens and obviously struggled bc…idk…he broke his mother****ing leg and wasn’t the same?!

This wasn’t you, but man the idiots in the GDT thread saying he sucked after that injury. Good God. Was clear that that injury took its toll on him which is completely understandable.

The problem with Pacheco is his receiving traits. I remember Torico saying Pacheco worked on his receiving skills in the offseason….and then dropped a wide open pass for a TD.

Love Pacheco but he doesn’t have good lateral agility or a feel for the passing game. He’s a straight line guy. We haven’t had a receiving threat at the position since McKinnon. A guy who can make guys miss and be a nice WR on passing downs.

We got it from Clyde for awhile before that devastating injury killed his athleticism (I think in New Orleans?)

This is what we’ve been missing IMO and why I want Ty Johnson so badly:

It was pretty much EXACTLY the relative lack of explosive running ability that had me targeting Wright, though.

Yeah -- I thought it would be a problem. So did many others. I mean you can quibble in degrees if you want, but this was a known issue coming into the season. This running game has been trending towards plodding at best for a few years now. Really since Williams left and definitely as the miles started to move up on Pacheco a bit.

This was a precipice we were teetering over for a couple of years. And we finally went over the edge.

There was never an issue with explosive runs with a healthy Pacheco. That's just a fact.

How many explosive runs did Jaylen Wright have in a very good Dolphins running game?
