Great work, Crow. It seems like some quality guards fell in your draft. Is it a dumb idea to trade Trey smith and look at drafting a guard to replace him or at least compete with Wanya for a guard spot? We’d probably need to draft another project swing tackle at some point, if we traded Trey?

What if the Seahawks offered their 52nd pick for Trey? And we took sanders with that pick instead of the trade up? Or is that too much for Seattle to offer? Seattle would probably want some picks back bc they don’t have many. I’m not sure what fair value is for Trey and I’m open to the idea that we need to keep Trey for one more year at least. Just curious.

I don't know that he would be. If New England doesn't go OT at 4, then you likely have 5-7 teams at the very top of round 2 that could trade in front of us to any of the 5 teams following Houston to get one.

CLE needs LT
NE needs LT and RT
JAX might look to upgrade at LT or RT
LV is probably looking to upgrade at RT
CHI has openly said they want competition at LT
NO might look to upgrade at RT
NYJ may need a RT if they don't go that route at 7
SF might look to get the heir to Silverback

The odds probably don't favor it.

We're really not losing a 3rd in that trade because I have us swapping 3rds with MIN. We'd just lose substantial draft position.

I have us completely losing the 3rd by also trading up in the 2nd round, which maybe isn't necessary, but I just happen to like Sanders, and I don't think he's making it to 63.

I do have the guards sliding a tad from the consensus, but not too far off. I just think they are overrating them a bit.

Would I trade SEA Trey for #52? Sure as shit, especially if it were one of those things that materialized after round 1 ended and before round 2 began. I'd want that ammunition to have the opportunity to fly up in the 2nd for a different prospect. Walking into day 2 with 52, 63, 95, and 97 (in my scenario) could land you with 40-ish, 63, and 97. Now you're talking about maybe getting your hands on JT Tuimoloau, Tyleik Williams, or maybe a guy like Henderson fell to that range or you have a pick of some other great backs. I like my odds of getting a good OG at 63 or 97.

Most mocks I see are just way too light at OT early. 5 in 25 here looks better to me, and almost seems like the floor.

I've seen many mocks with only 2 OT going top 15, and then all of the next tier sliding to 25 and beyond, with KC often having its pick at 31. That just isn't gonna happen.

Other things I like/agree with in this mock, or have comments on:

- Harmon, Emmanwori early (someone is taking that athleticism thinking they can mould it)
- Barron, Starks going a bit later
- Golden as a surprise early pick ... but I'd have Burden being the surprise early pick and 1st WR taken
- I wonder if Graham falls a bit ...
- and Ezeiruaku, Zabel, and especially Winston go earlier. Maybe Stewart too, you know the NFL.
- And Sanders. There aren't THAT many desperate teams. And I wonder if teams have finally soured on these low-upside QBs, the Kenny Picketts and Mac Jones, guys who get artificially propped up. If I was an NFL team, I wouldn't even bother wasting an early 2nd on him, never mind anything close to a top 15 pick, but at least pick 33 to Cleveland they might stomach after getting a stud at the top.

Thanks, guys. It was just my exercise of looking at prospect value versus team need/BPA and scheme fit to the best extent possible to see where guys might likely go. My personal bias/rank on certain guys does show up at times, such as Milroe in the late third. Hell, he'd go in the 5th or 6th if it were 100% my opinion.

I wanted to give write-ups for each 1st round pick but that is a time-intensive undertaking. If you are curious about the "why" for a pick, let me know and I'll try to best answer as to why I made it.

Awesome feedback.

I also wonder if Graham falls. Personally, I wouldn't have him as DT1. I think I'd have Walter Nolen and Derrick Harmon ahead of him. Nolen slides a bit due to perceived character, but he's still the higher-updside player. I have to give some credence to the opinion of the masses but I absolutely don't disagree with you.

I can't shake my disdain for Stewart's high ranking. I'd have him in the 2nd round. He's high upside, but the floor is incredibly low. That doesn't scream top-15 pick to me. Though, we saw with Travon Walker how teams can fall in love with traits alone.

Ezeiruaku is a bit of an enigma for me, much like Mike Green. They look really good but only one good season of production. I'm not sure how much stock to put into that. I could see either or both going top-20 and I could see both falling towards the bottom of 1, early 2.

Zabel, I feel like he's getting a bit pumped up. He's a good player. Teams don't usually take OC prospects high in the draft. Even the best ones usually settle into the mid-2nd range. Now, could he go really early? Sure, it happens from time to time. I dont' know if I could personally slot him in round 1, especially factoring in the level of competition component.

I'd probably still have TB take Winston at 53 if they didn't trade down with us. I don't know that he's going to go much higher than that. Maybe, though I don't assign a ton of value to safeties early. The league averages 4 over the first 2 rounds (1-2 in 1 and then 2-3 in 2) and then about 3 per round after that.

Sanders has some major flaws I don't like but he also does some things I do really like. He does read the field pretty well and he's accurate. You'd like to see more arm strength and speed up that processing. Many guys have gotten by on accuracy over arm strength in the right system. I think he can learn to accelerate the clock a bit. I think he's one of those guys where you can see him in the 1st but he has to go to the right situation. Is he a top 10 QB for me? No, not really. He's Teddy Bridgewater with a bigger frame for me. He should go more towards the end of the round than the beginning, but teams these days overdraft the shit out of QBs.

Great work as always!

I think the Steelers take a QB with one of their first two picks. I don't think they go QB in the first. I wouldn't be surprised by a trade up onto the early/mid 2nd.

In your mock, I think they take Milroe or Howard in the third. Supposedly they really like Milroe (I don't).

Crow, your body of work warrants it's own platform. Truly impressive stuff. Not sure what your time demands/obligations are but you should, at the very least, consider launching your own website/yt channel/podcast...something. Maybe your own annual publication even. I think itd be successful. Just food for thought.

If we did trade Trey, who would you target as a replacement or for competition at RG?

Nourzad is the one that immediately comes to mind. If drafting to replace, I'd think one of the lower picks would be used.

Probably look at 66 for one from this list:
Marcus Mbow, Purdue
Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona
Tate Ratledge, Georgia
Anthony Belton, N.C. State
Emery Jones, LSU
Wyatt Milum, West Virginia
Dylan Fairchild, Georgia

Would you rather have Milum on a rookie deal or Trey Smith as the most expensive guard in football?

I like Milum. With our offense and his pass pro skills, I’d lean that way.

Good guards are easy to find. I never want Guard and "most expensive" in the same sentence when it comes to building a roster. Veach has clearly taken the opposite approach with Thuney and now Smith. I am really not a fan of it.

Marcus Mbow would be my first choice. I really like that kid. I like Ratledge a lot too. Like Wyatt Milum at LG more than RG.

I'd rather that money went to a legitimate pass rusher opposite Karlaftis. Josh Sweat was my hope, and 19.1 AAV was a solid deal. His peak years in that deal get to 23 m.
