in thread interference:
assuming most cars are 'similar', i would like your take as to why my car may be burning thru fuel pump relays over the last four years. the car is a 18 year old holden commodore vt ( i assume you all know nothing about 'this' car, but i have heard it is a chevy biproduct) i spent over 1400 bucks to several mechanics only to end up googling the problem initially. but the problem has reared it's head. why am i going thru so many fuel pump relays? pm me if you have any ideas please.

It sounds like you may have a bad fuel pump. It could be drawing too many amps and putting stress on the relay or cycling unnecessarily and wearing it out.

the problem ONLY persists when the night time temps drop. the car won't start (prime). once the sun beads down on the car, it will fire every time.

Or a weak fuel pump. Cooler temps take more fuel. When it heats up the fuel expands in the tank and then it starts.
I've seen it multiple times |

Soooooooooo some issues with the trans are still ongoing.
Ended up having to pull it again and get it pulled apart completely. Long story short, im gonna pour another 1200 bucks into it, and it will never ****in break again lol. Should be good for 1500 HP after this. It will be done Monday, going in Tuesday, getting the base tune on and then to exhaust on wednesday, and back on the dyno friday or saturday night to finish up the tune. Looking to make 420 on the dyno (worlds stingiest) through the 4l80, get it all dialed in, and then start working on the nitrous. Car will need rear bumper and hood painted after that, and will definitely be ready for the first versailles cruise/magic dragon etc. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME OF YOU THERE IF YOUR WIVES WILL LET YOU~ |

(its as if the cold makes the relay contacts shrink thus losing contact. when the warmth hits the car, it expands and re-establishes connection. i know this is not the case, but best way to describe it)

The 80 was originally built by what you would just consider 'a guy' in his garage. We found that the pump was failing and the intermediate was well worn. Also the reverse clutches where worn to the point of needing to be replaced. Could have bandaged it up for 4 or 500 and see what happens but decided to just get it done.
Its being built now by a local builder by the name of steve. Old guy who low key is a transmission genius. trans already had transgo shift kit, red clutches, some other parts. We are going to do more clutches new sprague, and more shit im not even sure. This is the same guy that built the trans that went 8.2 in my buddys TT camaro last season, and he said he is building it basically the same minus the trans brake and straight cut planetaries. Im def not a transmission guy, and this guy has enough credibility for me to let him do his thing~ |
