There was literally a receiver in the area where he threw it. How is what Mahomes did any different than when a QB purposely tosses a ball into the ground in front of a runningback when he's about to get crushed?
If you're going to start calling plays like that grounding, you need to call it all the ****ing time. |

I wasn't in a place to participate in the game thread during the game, but I'll have to comment about the "unnecessary roughness" penalty that was called on Mike Pennel.
First, I assumed it was against the Panthers since Felix went down hard. But in reality, it was a documentary about how freakin' strong Mike Pennel is. He flung that running back down so hard that the breeze knocked Felix over.

Hey, quick question. I didn't have sound in the game today. When Patrick Mahomes II made that epic run near the end of the game, the refs gathered and talked for a long time. I couldn't tell if it had something to do with the fact that the Panther guy knocked the ball out of his hand at the end, but that was obviously irrelevant. What was the discussion about?

Also the 10 second runoff unless we call a TO, because the ball was fumbled OOB.

The ball and PM were out of bounds, then the ball came out. That is two different things.

They ruled it was fumbled OOB, which is why we had to call a TO to avoid the 10 second runoff.

The ball DID come out while he was still in bounds and they called it as such. That’s why the Chiefs took a timeout at that moment.
