Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Opinions and experiences please and thanks in advance.
If your shooting old imported ammo. And trust me, their is still plenty of it on earth. You have to make sure its not corrosive primered ammo.

Most modern ammunition is not corrosive, but old military surplus ammo is different. For surplus ammunition, there are two main types of primers: Berdan and Boxer. Boxer-primed ammunition is not corrosive, so you don’t have to worry about it. Not all Berdan is corrosive, but almost all of the surplus ammunition you find on the market with Berdan primers is corrosive.
Boxer Primed. Is stamped on the box.

Then you get into steel lacquered ammo. To prevent rust. A no no in top of the line mil spec AR-15s

The Maverick is Mossberg's more affordable model if you're interested.. Roughly $200 for a Mossberg-branded shotgun. My buddy has one and - while it feels kind of rickety - it's stood up to hundreds of shells so far.
I for got all about the Mav. Moss example of a affordable yet practical Tac-ta-cool shotgun.

The issue with steel casings are they normally have a rust prevention coating, and the buildup of that coating causes issues. The actual case won’t matter to your weapons and you will wear rifling out of your barrel before casings do any damage to your rifle.

Mossberg 500 has a security/field model. Usually retails around $350 if you can find one right now.

Remington 870 is rock solid and easy to disassemble and repair. Dont take my word for it but Field and Stream has high praise along with just about everyone.

"Remington 870_ _Produced: 1950--present

If you think of a gun as nothing but a tool, then the 870 is the greatest shotgun ever made. It is the Gun That Works, and if it doesn’t, it disassembles to the molecular level in a few minutes, and whatever ails it can quickly be put right. With its stamped parts and pressed checkering, the 870 sold for much less than the Winchester Model 12, the Ithaca 37, and the Model 31 it replaced. Though inexpensive, the 870 is every bit as reliable and durable as its costlier competitors. It has gone on to become the best-selling shotgun of all time."

This is the one id go with hands down.

Both are great pumps. Both have dual action rods that help keep the forearm pump from twisting when cycling.
The 870s receiver is milled steel where the 500 is aluminum. The 500 has 2 extractors where the 870 has just 1. The 500 has the Moss's patented anti jam elevator.

Id take either one to the muddiest of battle fields.

And Mossberg tweaked the shell stop on the 500s that are in 410. So the 500 series 410s no longer dump the live shells on the ground when pumping the action.
A real problem for the Moss 500 in 410 when using 3 inch mags. Who isnt gonna use a 3 inch mag when hunting with a 410?
Which is my go to shotgun for most upland birds.

And Moss gives it free of charge and shipping. Just have your 410s serial numbers ready. Moss customer service will ask for them
