The Chiefs’ final touchdown, an 8-yard pass from Mahomes to rookie receiver Xavier Worthy late in the third quarter, gave them their largest lead at 24-16.

The play was the byproduct of proper post-snap adjustments from Mahomes and Worthy. Instead of running his designed route, Worthy ad-libbed and ran a short out route toward the front pylon. Mahomes noticed Worthy’s altered route and threw a perfect pass, which allowed his teammate to score untouched.

“We originally called that play for man, but they ended up going zone,” Worthy said. “I just tried to get a feel for what they were going to do in the zone and I just (saw) an open area and just tried to rush to it. They (before the snap) yelled out, ‘Zone it, zone it.’”

Veach can’t draft WRs

/Chiefsplanet.

Then drafts Rice and Worthy in back to back years. He’s a balla!

I'm not saying Pat should keep an eye on 1, but Pat might at least consider keeping an eye on 1.

Those routes are what a lot of us saw in college and why the “track guy” takes were always dumb as ****.

He’s going to be more Devonta Smith than he is John Ross.

I wonder how many times the Mahomes to Xavier connections will knock Buffalo out of the playoffs.

Gotta eat the fans alive knowing they gave us both guys.

2 out of 3 ain't bad

I don't know why there are people who think that GM's should have a 100% draft pick success rate. I guarantee that has never happened and it never will.

Overall Veach has been stellar at the draft. There's always going to be a few busts.

I remember reading a story a month or so ago that was saying how Buffalo wasn't so dumb after all for allowing the Chiefs to trade up for Worthy. It went on to say how he looked like a bust and how much better Keon Coleman's stats were. I just rolled my eyes. Worthy had 264 yards to Coleman's 417. They both had 3 receiving TD's. Worthy should have better numbers as a first round pick they said. Now look at the numbers. Worthy has surpassed Coleman after Coleman missed 4 games due to injury. Coleman is at 498 yards and 3 TDs after 11 games. Worthy has 559 yards and 5TD in 15 games. Still less yards per game. But my point is that it's just silly trying to write someone off halfway through their rookie season. But you see it all over the media every year. This time, it was just someone trying to make Bills fans feel better about the Chiefs getting Worthy with their pick. Lol

He passes the eye test, too. You see him making plays just about every week. Just some rookie struggles early in the season, not to mention an offense that's literally had to reinvent itself week after week with all the injuries we've sustained.

He's gonna be fine.
