Seeing how the sideline acted....I dunno that letting him walk is the way they'll go.
It'll come down to money for sure, but I dunno. He's probably back... |

Without his holdout, we sign Dehop. With him there for the first week and Dehop added to our WRs, out entire season looks different. That's how one can not love the guy. He selfishly put his pocketbook ahead of the team and ended up hurting both the team and his pocketbook by doing so. Greedy, selfish.

See, I don't think so. I understand why they did it, kind of is goodwill gesture on the Chiefs part so it could help them in negotiations. But Chris Jones wants the Max contract, and he'll just say,' Yeah, the Chiefs let me get my bonus and all, but PAY ME. It's just business," and he'll move on. I just wish we could get something for him instead of just letting him walk.

It actually wasn't good will though. The goodwill thing woulda been "hey, we're sitting you, we'll pay it anyway don't worry" but they made him play it out.
Which they should have, after the whole beginning of the year thing. |

Veach also seems like the kind of guy that draws a line in the sand and says you can't cross it and then defends that line at all cost. Giving Jones the money without earning it sets a precedent and other players may expect that special treatment. Veach is a shrewd business man.

I have no idea what he will accept but I HOPE they work a deal out because I think he truly loves this team and city and wants to help be part of a legacy here.
In the end I think he'll go after the money which sucks, but if we could retain him and Sneed that alone would be a really good offseason. |
