The truly remarkable thing about thuney is his complete lack of holding / false start penalties. He’s historically good at avoiding costly mistakes. Probably one of the best of all time but I haven’t looked up the data
The guy held his own against Danielle Hunter.

We'll be fine.

PFF grades are trash. Meaningless. They're not going to grade better on those six snaps than they did on the others.

I didn't go through all the snaps and compare them to what is in that video, but I did watch the Chiefs' offensive snaps again.

On the play where Oladukon is sacked, the DE is lined up on the hip of the nickelback. This forces Humphries into a REALLY wide set in an empty formation. Suamataia is at LG on that snap, and he's standing there trying to help the center rather than protecting the inside move. On the 4th down sack by Bonitto, like I mentioned in an earlier comment, he sets like he is expecting RB chip help to the outside, but Perine slides by without chipping and Bonitto gets home.

Those were the two snaps that looked "rough" live - like instant losses - and you can make a pretty compelling case the blame isn't all, or even mostly, on Humphries.

I'd put that on the LG not making the right adjustment/QB not sliding protection. The Bonnitto

I'd like to see a video like this of all the passing plays with Thuney at LT vs the Steelers.

It was Pat's fastest time to release since the first month of the 2021 season..

DJ would have held his own in that situation. Most decent tackles would.

Interesting. Seth charted his snaps and will post about it today but he said he only had 1 pressure in the first half. He said the 2nd half was not good though.

Humphries probably improves a little each practice going forward. He needs to be put through a long fast paced practice or two working on his endurance. That said I trust our coaches will make the right decision in the end whichever way they choose to go.

I trust the coaching staff that's won 3 Super Bowls in 5 years to get their guys ready to play, yeah.

To me our O line seems to have struggled in the second halves of games all year.

I don't have the skills to cut it all together, but if you happen to have NFL+, you can do this using NFL Pro.

I do not have NFL+

But it would be interesting for a side by side comparison of the two.

Maybe the lack of possessions in the first half.. Many 3 and outs.. Not a lot to grade..

So that we're not talking past each other...

I agree with you WITH CONTEXT.

DJ is a better left tackle than Joe IF he's in game shape. Or if we're in this position with him at week 1 and we give him some help, let backs and TE's chip, and he gets his legs under him.

That isn't where we are. We're going into the playoffs now. This isn't where you "feel guys out" to see where they are.

We roll with what was finally working the last 3 weeks of the season.

I think most of us are saying the same thing. IDEALLY we'd have DJ at LT and Thuney at Guard. Because that is indeed what's best.

But DJ is NOT ready for multiple 10 play drives in a game. He's just not.

Joe is. Seeing as how Joe went up against elite pass rushers everyone should feel fine about this for the playoffs.

You're acting like you have seen everything there is to see, and we play a game tomorrow. Neither is true.

and your assessment of what you DID see is hyperbolic nonsense.

You're also acting like Wince's indecision and holding the ball is equal to Mahomes getting the ball out in 2.5 seconds like he was against Pittsburgh. This is also a false comparison.

AND your assessment of what you DID see is also not taking account DJ's supporting cast, which as the game went on became lesser and lesser.

So your whole premise is totally flawed.

If it's Thuney, that'll be because the three time Super Bowl winning coaching staff feels like he gives them the best chance to win. If that's so, okay, so be it.

but if DJ is anywhere NEAR 100%, he's playing LT and Thuney's at LG. It's that simple.
