Okay guys. Serious question here. I think a lot of my problems i had last year with losing big fish was my knot slipping.
What knot do you use and where can i find an instructional video of it? The circle hooks i normally use i connect with a snell to the leader, but i need a knot from the leader to the swivel and swivel to my weight. |

http://www.animatedknots.com A really handy book for knots is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/159228311X...4M4290WM&psc=0 My copy of Lefty’s knot book is ruined because of water. The pages stick together after I used the book in the rain by a trout stream. So I’m buying two copies, one for the house where I can use it to make leaders and tie flies, the other to cut out some pages, laminate them and make a knot notebook I can put in my fly gear case. These two should get you started. |

For fly fishing and tiny hooks, I use a double davy knot. It's fast and easy to tie with freezing fingers. Posted via Mobile Device |

But I'll try... Make a full loop through the hook eye, using thumb to preserve that loop, make another full loop through hook eye... using thumb to preserve/squeeze both roughly equal size loops together Take the extra 4-5 inches of loose line and wrap 5-6 times around your line 'stem' above both loops, then bring remaining line down through BOTH loops Spit on both loops and line end coming through them, grab line coming through loops with teeth while holding top of line with other hand and cinch down as tightly as possible Trim off line end but leave an inch or so coming out of your knot, to allow room for a bigger fish to cinch knot down even tighter without pulling line end out of knot and unraveling your work Hope that makes sense, thats as good as I can explain it Last edited by Easy 6; 02-02-2018 at 09:30 AM.. |

And you are smart for lubing the line with spit (or water). Monofilament can burn itself when you tighten down the knot. ALWAYS lube your knots with mono. |

Thats exactly it, loochy... I've had more lines pop from big fish and from trying to yank free from snags than I can remember, but that knot ALWAYS holds

Word. Thanks
I had been using this one, and it works fine on my lighter gear and with narrow diameter braided lines. But it's hard to tie right with 50lb mono and it seems to slip on my every once in a while. |

Been working my ass off this winter got me a new home and just been paying on things. Got back tires but still needing front tires and alignment it would suck getting to the lake and have a flat.
Next week I'll have four nights off and bet your ass I'll be at the lake getting my fish on. It's been depressing not going but I've been determined to set myself up for a good year of catching Biggins. Thinking about a kayak or an inflatable pontoon boat that maybe easy to take to the lake. **** **** **** can't wait to go fishing. Nights are still cold but another week should be nice enough fish start biting.

Same here
When I'm at work and and idiot starts talking to me I go to my place in my head fishing and thinking every detail I need to do to get out there and catch Biggins. They think I'm listening because I go yeah huh huh yep oh really ok yeah huh huh I hear that yep huh huh, they just ramble on anyways. I gotta get my fish on. Hopefully it rains this week so I can have an open fire keep warm at night with next week. Kansas has a fire ban I think still it's been dry but cold.
