Andy Reid is a terrible head football coach

Andy Reid got depantsed in the Super Bowl by Bruce Arians.

Bruce ****ing Arians and Tom ****ing Brady.

Well, you see, Andy Reid is an offensive genius, and how dare we question Andy Reid's genius in not running the ball and not utilizing the screen pass in the face of an epically brutal pass rush, a patchwork offensive line and a QB with a hurt toe?

How dare we question his geniusness?

It's an interesting thought exercise if you get bored.

It's gonna be super interesting when Andy does leave because I think you'll pretty much have the pick of who you want....coaches are going to be falling over themselves to coach Mahomes.
If Andy fails this season...after 7 years and a phenom QB...it's a legitimate thought.

Dont want a repeat of Marino..and to a lesser degree, Rodgers.

How much better of an offense can he have?

His teams are always an excuse away from the SB....for 20+ years.

That legitimate thought must occur in Hunt's head. He absolutely adores Reid. Publicized fan unrest and/or grumblings from Mahomes might sway him.
If Reid can't take KC to the SB by end of next season he should be gone, which will also mean a new GM.

I have been a critic of Reid since he came here. I have never been a big fan of bringing in someone that failed and was fired from their previous position yet this has been a trademark of the Chiefs. Marty fired by Cleveland, hired by the Chiefs; put together some really good teams that almost won it all. Vermeil walked away and was hired by the Chiefs; built an awesome offense and an equally not awesome defense. Reid hired and brings in a quarterback that was basically fired in Alex Smith. Two of the worst playoff losses in the history of the NFL.

I really believe that the Chiefs are in trouble; both lines are injured and even at full strength below average. We have Mahomes... And that's about it. Not enough. Reid has been given control over coaching staff and player selection. If there is anyone responsible for the shape the team is in, who else is it?

Well, I'd love it if Andy Reid would change and improve some of these maddening tendencies that he's exhibited for the past 20 years, because it's the type of shit that has kept him from winning a SB...and I'd LOVE to win a SB.

And this team, as presently configured, will not win a SB this year.

Quality post. Andy is pretty darn good, but his flaws, which he refuses to fix, keep us/him from the promise land.

Show me a coach who doesn't have those flaws, and I'll show you a coach who doesn't do all the GREAT coaching things that Andy does. The stuff where he's one of a kind and on a completely different level from his coaching peers.

You can point to Belichick and that's about it in terms of coaches who have it all. Everybody else has a bad flaw of some sort. Pick your poison. Sometimes those coaches overcome those flaws and win Super Bowls. Hey, great. Super.

Gary ****ing Kubiak has a Super Bowl. Does that mean he's a better coach than Andy Reid? Or maybe you'd prefer to go the John Elway route and find gritty hard-nosed disciplined defense guys who will prevent all the penalties from taking place on their talentless shoddily-coached squads. Maybe one of these unknown 12-year old coaches who got sneezed on by Sean McVay would be more your style.

I'll take my chances with Andy Reid over starting over at this point. I'd rather keep the innovation and the factory of terrific offensive coaches than go with an Eric Bieniemy who doesn't possess them the same flare for innovation and might be just as shitty in the penalties/weird coaching decisions department.

I'm sorry if I've upset you, or anybody else, but if Andy is the coach you claim he is, he'd swallow some pride, see what the film is cry for him to see, and realize that he needs some help to outside of his wheelhouse - great offensive play design. He needs help drafting men for the trenches (both sides), and certainly has to swallow some pride and let somebody have what they need to build a middle of the road defense (if his plan is to score 40-50 points every game).

So we'll find out Sunday if he's creative outside of super-creative plays for the O. If they get their asses kicked in the trenches (again), it'll answer some of your questions for you.

Like most sports, RESULTS are all that matter at the end of the day. Being a regular season phenom is all good but at some point Andy has to prove that he can win the damn thing. With Pat here now the situation has drastically changed...we cannot afford to waste his incredible talent on a coach who can't get it done...we just can't. Lincon Riley or Josh Mccdaniels would be two I'd consider or just try and find a brilliant defensive mind somewhere like the young Cowboys DC.

I think Andy gets this year and the next to get it right tbh...if no change then cut ties and start over.

I don't mind Reid having flaws.
Football is a sport for specialists. There's no shame in specializing in some things more than others.
What I do mind, a lot, is Reid responding to his flaws by increasing his authority and responsibility.
We have one of the all-time great QBs. We have some decent skill players. We have an awesome offensive gameplanner.
EVERYTHING ELSE is subpar to cellar-dweller.

Tell me one of these aspects of the game where we rise even nominally above the mid-bottom 3rd of the league?

Our positives cover a ton of minuses. But they're never going to be all of the game, and they're not always going to be there, or 100%.

Dumbest idea ever.

Reid brings the franchise back from the literal basement and produces a team with a journeyman QB that gets to the playoffs four out of six years.

He finally gets a real QB, albeit with just about every throwing motion issue and a small bag of head issues, and the fan base thinks that after just 25 games he should be fired? After getting us to within 4 inches of a SB?

There's a ton of fair-weather /bandwagon fans on this thread . . .
